'PW fi VOLLEYBALL, basketball, softball, dodge ball, and calisthenics, were some of the activities we engaged in during gym classes. Girls and boys used the big gym at the same time. A sliding panel made two rooms out of one. PHYSICAL EDUCATION WAS ONE CLASS WE ALL ENJOYED DEVELOPING strong and healthful bodies was not the only aim of the physical education pro- gram. Games of all types taught coordination and good sportsmanship, calisthenics helped us to MRS. MARGARET DUNLAP, bowl- ing, gym, G. A. A., MISS HELEN PHILLIPS, gym, G. A. Plane and solid geometry, algebra, general math, trigonometry, and commercial arithmetic gave us a wide selection. Skills in solving problems and development of our reasoning powers came to us through the guidance of our math teachers. WE LEARNED to be good housewives in home economics, and we discovered that home-keeping is as much a career as a iob in an office. FUTURE HOUSEWIVES WERE TRAINED HERE EIGHTH GRADERS JOINED US THIS YEAR FOR THE FIRST TIME, the eighth grade joined the Ben Davis campus group. Mr. Gordon Harker, for- merly athletic director, became principal of the old freshman building and Mr. Bernard DeWitt moved, with the 9B's over to the new Wayne Central. In the old building, 8B's and 9A's were housed this year. This was the third change for what had once been the only high school in Wayne township. Our eighth grade teachers were MRS.
