Walter Andrews, Helen Stegemoller, Dean Toombs, and Pat Cloud. The lOA's were led by Kenny Blanck, Lorene Fine, David Henderson, and Faye Shofner. The most important part of that year was the Sophomore party. Bradley Shaw was the bride in the mock wedding . . . with Brad as a bride most anything could happen . . . and did! When September of 1948 rolled around, we entered the front doors as Jolly Juniors. As iuniors we had a big responsibility . . .The Prom. Wilbur McCormick and Veronica Pacala were elected King and Queen, Pat Cloud and Dean Toombs reigned as Princess and Prince. The 'IlB's retained their l0A officers . . .the liA's elected David Henderson, Faye Shofner, Pat Pinkston and Lorene Fine. At last! September, 1949. We were seniors! And did we brag about it! The year was all we had dreamed it would be . . . a constant whirl of activities . . . beginning with the election of Dean Toombs, Jackie Hanneman, Helen Stegemoller, and Paul Angleton as officers. The 'l2A's elected Pat Pinkston, Mary Lou Sipe, Herman Freeland, and Marlene Lang. We had our pictures taken . . . we ordered class iewelry . . . name cards . . . and announcements. When we stood in front of the Freshman build- ing . . .frightened at what lay ahead of us, but delighted at being in high school? lt didn't take us long to get over our awe . . . soon we were bragging loudly to our eighth grade friends. Election time came soon that first year . . . our 9B officers were Walter Andrews, Helen Stegemoller, Eunice Johnson and Dale Morgan . . . 9A's chose Jack Cafouras, Faye Shofner, David Henderson, and Jackie Burton. The biggest thrill of that first year was our Freshman party with its program . . . f its dancing . . . its games. That was the year we gave an operetta, Sunbonnet Girl, under the direction of Mr. Omar Rybolt, head of the music department. By the next year we felt thoroughly at home in, high school, but we were due for another day of excitement as school started . . . getting off the school bus . . . walk- ing into the SENIOR building. We struggled with lockers . . . we felt small and ignored among the upper classmen . . . but we soon adjusted ourselves. IConcluded on Page san 43 Lvl!! Where do you find teenagers three-fourths of their spare time? At the telephone, of course. Over the wires, students make plans and happily discuss each phase of school life. Isn't it appropriate, therefore, to use the telephone as the theme of the l950 Keyhole, through whose pages Ben Davis boys and girls review the highlights of the year iust passed? Listen . . Belmont 4938, please. Hello! Is this the Ben Davis high school? Will you please call the Gold and Silver Keys to the phone? You say you don't understand? Excuse us -- we mean Walter Andrews and Phyllis Layne. They are the ones who were voted to represent the school in this telephone review, you know. You'll call them? Thank you!
