I llnnnn nn nn SEVIICDR PROP!-lECY As I was crossnng Washnngton and Illnnons streets one mornnng last week I had a sudden feelnng of nnsensn bnlnty I felt as nf I were Hoatnng through whnte fluffy clouds and then I landed nn the mnddle of a large cnty I looked around and found I was nn Indnanapolns It was a strange looknng Indnanapolns the bunldnngs were larger and very modernnstnc the automobnles were streamlnned and the street cars were dnfferent from those of the present day I saw a sngn over a doorway that read Help the Poor Chrnstmas 1957 I was very sur prnsed and a lnttle bewnldered I started walknng down the street and I saw an old gentleman nn front of me I thought he looked very famnlnar I hastened my steps and overtook hnm I was surprnsed to see nt was my prnn cnpal nn hngh school Mr Charles H Vance When nnqunrnng about hnm I learned he was loafing He sand that he retnred from hns posntnon at Ben Davns Hngh School and was staynng at home gettnng hns long earned rest I asked hnm nf he had heard from any of my old schoolmates He sand Gnlbert Dnckey was a floorwalker nn Ayres modernnstnc department store and he and Lounse Axsom were marrned I left Mr Vance and contnnued down the street I looked nn a barber shop and whom dnd I see but Gerald Bolen Harry Dorsett and Carl Lake as barbers and Kathernne Koch as manncurnst I saw a very busnnesslnke man nn the chanr gettnng a hanrcut and manncure I looked closer and nt was none other than Charles Causey I decnded to go to the movne and when I bought my tncket I was very surprnsed to see Vnrgnnna Mae Altopp was the tncket seller She told me that Don Chappell owned the theater He had marrned Irene Wyatt fifteen years ago today and was havnng a celebratnon I walked nn and who should meet me at the door as usher but Charles Boyer The feature that week was How My Heart Throbs' The stars were those two great lovers of the olden days Vera Apple and Franklnn Thompson After the movne I went nnto the Buston restaurant for lunch The wantresses were Henrnetta Anderson Alnce Bell Ruth Campbell juannta Roberts and Annne Cornwell I asked Henrnetta who the chnef cook and bottle washer was She told me Don Buser was chnef cook and Leroy Compton was chnef bottle washer I enjoyed a very delncnous lunch and then went nnto the bnggest department store nn the state the Beaman Department Store By the name I wondered nf by any chance my old school chum Kenneth Beaman was owner I happened to run nnto Ednth Rohl nn the store buynng a Chrnstmas present for her husband asked her whom she had marrned She told me she and her old flame joe Spreckelmcyer had been sanlnng on the stormy sea of matrnmony for five years I asked her nf Kenneth Beaman owned the department store and she told me he was presndent She also sand that Regnnald Bloor was vnce presndent and uannta Harrnson prnvate secretary I went to get a Chrnstmas present and who should want on me but Betty Brownlee After purchasnng my present I went to the toy department to speak to Santa Claus Guess who nt was' Nobody else but john Sechrnst H sand that Ruby Cantrell Helen Holder Shernbelle Horn Alberta Curbeaux Paulnne Hollowell Emma Hardnn Geraldnne Hughbanks Charles Goss Harlnn Ogborn and Kenneth Rnchards were employed nn the same store I was also nnformed that Charlotte Tntus and Carolnne Thomas had gone to New York to snng nn the opera He also told me that Warren Wnlkes Harry Smoot Paul S hober Kenth Mattnngly and Bnll Schenl were dntch dng gers nn Ben Davns the largest suburb of Indnanapolns Raymond Lentz was mayor and Lloyd Mahar was chnef guard at the cnty janl nn Indnanapolns I left the store and went to the State Lnbrary Whom do you suppose I met there?
