ffaiiipji Jraibnreat ,BIFEN left the cage door open Nappy hesltated only a moment then out and away over the tree tops he Flew wlth hrs mother s lamentlngs and scoldmgs rmg mg ln hrs ears After Hymg slowly over the c1ty he declded to roost rn a large green garage As rt was gettmv very cold he fiew rn 1rnmed1ately But what a receptron he recelved' 'lhere were prgeons squlrrels rats mrce and cats and all scolded and fussed at hxm He went out the nearest exrt and hld under the eaves of a house That nlght Nappy was terrlbly lonesome and lt was snowrng very hard At length he Flew mto the house He was roostrng comfortably on a llght when a lady arose 1n a great frlght turned on the lrght and yelled Ellza there s an owl rn my room Elxza got up and called her father who came runn1ng 1n and gave Nappy such a chase that he was glad to Fly out mto the cold and the snow All the next day Nappy fiew mto houses only to be chased out again so that when he flew mto a lady s room and she got up and chased hlm he was ln no humor to be fought He flew at her face 1n a fury The lady ran to the telephone called someone and told hlm to come up and put Nappy out I a few mlnutes a man came rn caught Nappy and put h1m 1nto a bag lt was a very repentant Nappy that was carrled home next mornmg and glad he was to have h1s mother prune h1s feathers and h1s keeper feed h1m If you should ask hxm Nappy would tell you that van1ty and adventure do not become anyone Martha Morrrs Severson lhc XXIDIIIHQ Hun HIS was to be the thlrd and final game of the season The Cam WFT, den school had a good team and had proved rt to every other ya school but the Gardner Camden had challenged Gardner to play Q64 and had declded on two out of three games the wlnner gettmg the school league pennant Both teams had one vlctory to therr credlt Thxrty mxnutes after Bert jackson reached the field the game started Jackson s team the Camden took the field jackson played center field The Gardner s first man Butler struck out The second followed suit but the thlrd the opposmg prtcher knocked a hot llner to Conners the Camden s shortstop who dropped lt Wlth one man on the Gardners took new hfe and the next man h1t 1nto left field Lann1ng the left fielder tr1ed hard to get the ball but rt was lmposslble and the runners were on second and th1rd base Sanderson the next batter knocked a fly to Sloan the second baseman Yer out' shouted the ump1re , V, , A ,. lt 1 rl., - ' l . - V , , , . . . - U . .
