band musicians keep busy pace The Band has had many occasions to play this year — home varsity football games, the snake dance, several parades, PTA meetings, concerts, contest, Mardi Gras, and even some concerts in the park. The Bement Community Band gave high school students, as well as community members, the chance to warm up their chops . The Marching Bulldogs competed in several parades placing first in the Lovington Parade, second in the Old-Fashioned Day Parade, and third in the Farmer City Christmas Day Parade - a tremendous achievement since the eighth graders did not march with the high school cutting the band size in half. The Bulldogs sold cheese and sausage to support themselves. The annual chili and spaghetti suppers were held to raise money. At the Awards Concert, Seniors James McHale, Angi Carney, and Drum Major Jamie Ater conducted. Angi Carney was awarded the John Philip Sousa Award and James McHale received the Louis Armstrong Award.
