2 1. Enthusiasm and spirit sparked the pep meetings when victory was in sight. 2. For the girls, the boys made a special effort to show their support for “the feminine side of athletics.” 3. The girls “spoofed” the fantastic five during the basketball competition. Opposite page, 1. The cheerleaders’ gymnastics were not to be outdone by this lovely covey of beauties. 2. Lana Scrimager frequently made the pictures as the shortest was always in front. 3. Dan Becker, rested frequently in class, but put a lot of time on the basketball court. 4

COMPETITION— A BIG ROLE AT BHS Throughout high school, competition plays a major role whether its winning that all-important homecoming game or competing against oneself in a struggle to pass that course you thought would never end. In any competition, defeat and victory must be taken in stride—of course, victory, as we all know, is far easier to accept. Life, too, has its successes and failures, each hopefully giving way to a greater drive for perfection. The Games We Play provides a fitting theme for the 1978 BIM bringing to mind the successes, the failures, and, above all, the hard work and fun as we reached for victory in all the games we played. 5
