Brian Belcher passes the baton to a determined Jeff Moery. Brian and Jeff were both members of two relay foursomes. Brian the 880 and 440 and Jeff the 440 and mile. Jeff Moery and Les Jennings engage in a duel to the death between events. Moery is still very determined. Distance Aces Les Jennings and Kim Barnstable. Kim was fourth in the County Meet in the 2 mile. Les was first in Conference 2 mile and second in the County. Zane Giannonatti was first in the 880 run at the Arthur Invitational and second in the 880 at the Conference and County Meets. Zane was first in the County high jump and third in the Conference. Randy Hinton was first in the Conference and County pole vault and third at the Arthur Invitational. Randy was second in the Conference mile and third in the County mile. Gary Waldo Whalen was fourth in the Conference high hurdles and second in the County highs. He was second in the County low hurdles and third in the Conference 440 yard dash,

Thinclads Nab Second Place Dave Burton shows us the form that sent him to a school record of 37' 11 in the triple jump. Dave Rutledge was second in the County shotput and fourth in the Conference; he was fourth in the County discus and fifth in the Conference. Jeff Wright set a new school record of 51. 1 seconds in the 440 dash. Jeff won first in 440 at Arthur Invitational; second in 440 at Area Best Meet, the Conference Meet, and the Piatt County Meet; and 4th in 440 at the District Meet. Jeff led the 74 track squad in total points scored. Bulldog tracksters show off the second place trophy earned in the conference meet. Head Coach Gene Schnierle and Assistant Coach Jeff Lindsey confer with managers Cary Hinton and Wayne Nash during the Cerro Gordo Invitational. John Harshbarger was second in the discus at the Arthur Invitational and Piatt County Meets and third in the Conference Meet. He was also a member of the 440 and 880 yard relay teams.

Girls’ Interscholastic Competition Makes School History Front Row: Sandy Fendley, Carol Roux, Connie Morris, Carol Lietz, Vicki Bentley. Row Three: Nancy Guffey, Norine McHale, Jodi Camden, Tonya McCoppin, Janet Walsh, Debbie Miles, Pauline Mchale, Mrs. Bolsen. Diane LeCrone serves to opponents. Mrs. Bolsen advised the team. For the first time in the history of Be-ment High, girls participated in volleyball competition with other schools. The interest and enthusiasm was overwhelming. Norine McHale, Pauline Mc-Hale, Vicki Bentley, Sandy Fendley, and Linda Weakley lettered--ending the season with a 3-2 match record. Sandy Strinko returns serve.
