This is 1967; it too will bud, unfold, and fall. But like the bare branch, new leaves will grow A new year will take its place. The leaves are dead forever, But we have a book to keep our year alive. In the fall of 1963, as the new superintendent of the Bement Schools, I felt the class entering that fall had a great future. To be in the upper half of this graduating class, one would have to possess a 3.8 grade average over four years. I had spent the six previous years watching most of them grow in stature. After four more years, I have not changed my opinion. When I look back over the years, most of our graduating classes have been above the national norms. Many graduates have been most successful. I am sure most of them will be in the future. It is a great pleasure and privilege for me to have a part in guiding the youth of this community and for my children to attend your fine schools. I am especially happy that our community provides youth with a chance to attend public schools K through 14. I hope that many of our graduates will take advantage of our new Junior College 505. May I suggest that happiness is the greatest virtue of man. The place to be happy is here, the time is now, the way is to make others so. Time moves rapidly, days forming the weeks and months as the school year rushes by. It seems that only yesterday this school year began, and now it is drawing to a close. Thinking back over the year I must say it has been a good year. There have been many gay, happy times and some serious ones too. There have been parties and dances and victorious ball games. There has been study and hard work and deep thought. It has been a year of people doing things they knew had to be done and things they enjoyed doing. It had been a year of accomplishment and growth. All these things were made possible because of you, the student body. You have studied and worked with the determination to do great things. You-have entered into the extra-curricular activities with a zest that is a joy to watch. You have made the year one to be remembered and looked back on with pride. Under the guardian of a very able faculty, you have made good progress toward the future you seek. 4 Formulates school policy... Allocates funds.. .Links school and community.... Larry Beavers stepped into the ranks as head coach, worked hard, and established the '67 football team as one of the best this school has ever had. A 6-2-0 record exemplifies a job well done. Enchanted atmosphere created by blue illusion ---W ith the thought of Homecoming right around the corner, the B.H.S. student body snaked its way through the streets. This year the French Club successfully combined foreign language and fun to make it one of the largest organizations at BHS. The main attraction of this one-semester club was the annual soiree. The majority of the evening was enjoyed playing a variety of interesting French games while the latter portion included refreshments of punch and petite fours. For the second year, the French Club promoted Operation Santa Claus which provided Christmas gifts for the patients at the Lincoln State Home. The French Club has declared this their annual philanthropic undertaking. These are the presents the French Club presented to the Lincoln State Home. Romeo, Bill Phalen, prepares to elope with Juliet, Bill Bell, in the junior's version of this familiar scene from Shakespeare's play. The 1967 From, Moonlight and Roses”, was held in the beautifully-decorated small gym. In spite of the rain outside, everyone inside enjoyed dancing to the music of Dave Holcumb's band. During one of the few breaks in the dance several of the guests relaxed in front of the white picket fence adorned with brightly-colored roses. The junior mothers not only prepared the dinner but also served refreshments at the dance. The juniors and seniors populated the dance floor in their beautiful long gowns and suits or tuxedoes. 57 Good-bye BHS 58 SHEILA MAE BENTLEY MARY KATHRYN BODY Ip Farewell Dear Alma Mater WILLIAM DANIEL CAHILL 59 RITA ANN ELIZABETH CODY LAUREL JOY COOPER We’re Going Away WARD JOSEPH DARE 60 RICHARD LYNN FAY CARL SAMUEL FAY We Know Not Where PATRICIA ANN FLENNIKEN DAVID CARROLL FLOYD LINDA KAY FISHER f LINDA KATHRYN GONZALEZ LOIS ANN FISHER Or to What Fortune, Or 62 KAREN SUE JINKS THOMAS ALFRED JORDAN Whether We’ll See You Again WILLIAM JOHN LYONS ROBERT LEE McCOPPIN 63 Yet Let Us THOMAS EDWARD MALOHN DAVID PAUL MARKER MARGARET LOUISE MARKER MYRNA LOY MILLER BETTY ANN MOERY 64 Not Be Too Hasty DAVID MAX MOORE MARY NOREEN PHALEN JAMES WALTON MORRISON 65 Now for My Last -- VICKI MARLENE RIDDLE LINDA KAY RADMAKER STEPHEN CRAIG SELLE CAROL SIDERS DAVID THOMAS REDMAN 66 Let Me Look Back a Moment NANCY CATHERINE SIEVERS WILLIAM NEWTON SPEARMAN PHYLLIS LINDA STROHL BRUCE ALLEN SUTPHEN 6 ANN STEIDINGER 67 CHERYL JEANNE TIFFIN WILLIAM HENRY WOOLRIDGE ■ Good-Bye BHS! Steve Ayers, AnnFlenniken, Nancy Sievers. Ann Steidinger, Jon Wall, and Linda Wrench each received a gold B in recognition of their high scholastic achievements. This unusually high number of gold B awards assures the class of '67 that they will not only be remembered for their athletic accomplishments, their leadership abilities, and their many activities, but also for their outstanding academic performances. The Year is like a leaf It buds, unfolds, and falls. This is 1967. It will bud, unfold, and fall too. But like the bare branch, new leaves will grow. A new year will take its place. The leaves are dead forever. But we have a book to keep our year alive.
