The Voice of Student Opinion SEATED: Ann Steidinger, Secretary-Treasurer; Larry Burton, President; Diane Shepherd, Vice-President. Mike Hite. Vic Manny. STANDING: Mr. Hensley, Advisor; Bob McCoppin. John Hite, Neal Bateman, David Marker, Claudia Medaris, John Moery, Mr. Hargrave, Advisor. The Student Council serves many purposes, the principal aim being to facilitate communication between the administration and the student body. Representatives from various classes and the Student Council's two advisors meet to plan social functions, to regulate extracurricular activities, and to provide a medium through which student opinion may be heard. Thus each Bement High student, through his Student Council representative, has a voice in shaping school policies. Bement High looks to its Student Council as a model for student conduct, and each council member is expected to uphold the dignity of the position to which he has been elected. Mrs. Betty Slagle came to Bement High School this year and fills the important position of bookkeeper which contributes to the efficient operation of our school. Her cheerful personality has made her popular with students and teachers alike. Miss Dana Hite began her first year as Mr. Hargraves’ secretary. She performs her office tasks efficiently and possesses the good disposition needed for her occupation.

These busy Board members take time from their various occupations to help form the vital link between the community and school. A member of the Board of Education gets little recognition for many hours of hard work. We owe our sincerest thanks to these people who devote much time and energy to improving our school. MR. THOMAS HENSLEY--Principal As a friend, as a counselor, and as a principal there is no problem too small or too big for him to listen to. We all appreciate the fine job he has done in contributing to the success of Bement High School.
