CONCERT BAND The Bement High School Band per formed at the annual Christmas and spring concerts and played at the Community Memorial Day Services held at the Forest Preserve Park. Mr. Vester E. Huffine, in his first year at Bement High, directed the band to a superior rating at the state contest held at Millikin University on April 18. This was the first time in the last twelve years that our band has received a superior rating at the state contest. The eighteen members of the dance band played at coke dances and at the school open house. On January 12, the dance band participated in the Millikin Stage Band Festival held at Millikin University. Soloists and Ensembles On the morning of March 14, thirty-seven members of the band and chorus left for the State Solo and Ensemble Music Contest which was held at Millikin University. These students, representing our school, gave Bement something to be proud of when they received five superior ratings, eight excellent ratings, and three good ratings. SAXOPHONE SEXTET--Sue Fisher, Jim Lamb, Steve Wallace, Janet Medaris, Nancy Marshall, Sue Siders --Second in State.
