CLHSS Ui '53 OFFICERS Don Barnum, . . vice-president Marilyn Wirth,. . . treasurer Sandra Julin, . . secretary Yer M. Kenny Albrecht, . . president HHIGHTS We feel quite sure of ourselves now that we are seniors and have at last received our knighthood. As we turn toward new horizons, we look back on our happy, carefree days at Belvidere High School. Entering Belvidere High School as Second-class Pages, 170 strong, we were ably guided by Jack Ryder, George Graves, Max Newport and Janet Brown .... Eileen Kiefer was our candidate for homecoming queen .... During the Christmas season our decorations, depicting a home scene, won second prize. . . .Our Boost- er Carnival king and queen candidates, Ron Helsdon and Sue McCoy, emerged victorious, a rare honor for a freshman class. As sophomores, we chose Ken Albrecht, Dick Elliott, Bill Smith and Roberta Wright to be class officers .... Homecoming candidates were Janet Brown and Howard Perrsong our float theme Sailing Over the Blue Streaks. Carole Neufer and Jim Coleman reigned over the Booster Carnival, our second victory. During our junior year, as Squires, we were led by Marion Giesecke, Dick Schlottman, Ron Dunbar and Bill Bauer .... Navy blue and white were the colors chosen for our class sweaters. Our rings were of plain gold with a raised design . . . . Marilyn Wirth and Don Barnum represented us in homecoming activities. . . . The theme White Christmas was carried out in the upstairs hall as our contri- bution to Yule Tide decorations .... Carl Warner and Dorothy Koplin made the junior bid for Booster Carnival success .... The Mantle was awarded to one of our gallant squires, Janet Brown .... The banquet and prom were the climax of a won- derful year. Knighthood at last! Under the direction of Ken Albrecht, Don Barnum, Sandra Julin and Marilyn Wirth, we completed our fourth year .... In spite of keen compe- tition, we crowned Ron Dunbar and Shirley Miller at the close of homecoming act- ivities. As we look back on four happy years, we almost wish we were starting again the trials and tribulations of attaining knighthood. 20
