The Class of I947 developed many good leaders. These leaders were backed by a Le+'s +igh+! Le+'s win! aHi1'ude. Even as blundering freshmen fhai spiri+ of cle- 'rerminaiion and cooperafion won for +hem +he Paper Drive, Bond Drive, second place in +he Varieiy Show, and +he crowning of Lorraine Luckow al' ihe Boosier Carnival. Their leaders were Dorofhy Blackledge, Howard Zimmer, James Ohlsen and Ronald Klassg class advisers, Miss Werih and Miss McCord. During iheir sophomore year +hey chose Alvin Barwig, Gene Bleakley, Bob Barnum, and Ari' Johannes for +heir officers, wi+h Mrs. Munns and Miss Eniwhisfle, advisers. Under ihis leadership Mary Sexauer was elec'I'ed Carnival Queen: LiHle Red Flannels won firsf place in +he Varieiy Show: and +he Hallowe'en Dance was sponsored. As juniors, 'ihey looked 'for bigger and beH'er worlds +o conquer. Nan Hous+on was elecied Carnival Queen by such an overwhelming major- i1'y 'rhai' 'l'he carnival vofes were exclusively for a Boosler King. Bob Barnum placed second in ihis con+es+. During +he same year Diane Rundell was I2 crowned Homecoming Queen, and +he hilarious ski1', Queen for Ten Minu+es, +ook +op honors in +he Varieiy Show. The climax of lhe junior social calendar was 'ihe Prom ai' Rose Manor jBel-Marj. l'I' was one of +he nices+ even+s of +he year. The Man'rle, fhe highesl' honor a junior can re- ceive, was awarded +o Doroihy Blackledge, who aHended 1'he Universify of Chicago her senior ear. y The olificers for ihe junior year were James O'Brien, Donna Whiiing, Gene Schwebke, and lrene Murphy. Miss Blackburn and Miss Force were class advisers. In +he senior year again 'l'hey +ook firsi place in +he Varieiy Show wi+h fheir skii, Song Revue g were represenfed in +he Homecoming Queen's cour'I' by Gloria Suhr and Lorraine Luckowg and sponsored a Hallowe'en Hop and a Valenfines Dance. lrene Murphy, selecied by ihe seniors and ihe facully, won ihe coveied D.A.R. award. Holding offices ihis year, were Joan Waliers, Gene Schwebke, Roger Crawford, and Ari' Jo- hannes. The class advisers were Mr. BreH', Miss Harris, and Miss Phillips. The senior class colors are kelly green and whifeg iheir flower, ihe pink cameliag and +heir mo+'I'o: Born noi' for ourselves only, bui for 'I'he whole world.
