N. L. DOUGLAS: ING N . L. Douglas announced his resignation as Belton School Superintendent on October 21 , 1975 . He has been in school business for 37 years. This year marked the beginning of Douglas's 13th year as Belton School Superintendent. Many improvements have taken place in the schools since Mr. Douglas's arrival in Belton 13 years ago. The high school Vocational Building has been constructed , and the open areas in the elementary , junior high, and high schools have been added . Also , the renovation of the present high school has been accomplished. A vari- ety of educational programs have been increased in the school system , too . In addition to the Migrant Pro- gram, the Plan-Aide Cor Special Educationj Program, Title I ia federal educational programj and the Deaf Education Program have been brought to Belton. Upon his retirement he was given a coffee by the Chamber of Commerce and a banquet by the local TSTA at which he and his wife received a silver tea service from unit XII. November was proclaimed N. L. Douglas day by Dr. Robert Elker. Special guests at the TSTA banquet were Dr. Omer Douglas, Mr. and Mrs. N. L. IZ. BOIZEN IQ PIZOMGIEDTO AQQISVXNT Mr. Royce Boren was given the office of assistant superintendent of Belton High f School in January. He started his teaching career in 1955 by teaching and coaching in Elgin, Texas for one year. In January of 1956, he went to the army and served for two years. He then taught at Academy, Texas for part of one year. He later taught and coached at Belton Ir. High for four years. After that he became assistant principal of Belton High School and from 1969 to 1976 served as principal. He has a Bache- lors Degree from Southwestern University of Georgetown and a Masters Degree from Baylor University of Waco. His hobbies are raising, training, and riding horses. He also enjoys golf and camping. He and his wife, Sidney, have two children, Lewis and Karen.
