Janet Kerley clowns around for the camera at Girls State. Joe Price, Harold Whitis, Grant Critchfield, and John Cox were Belton's representatives at Boys State. Representatives to Boys and Girls State are chosen on the basis of grades, conduct, leadership, and various other qualities of good character. They participate in learn- ing of the state government by holding elections among themselves a.nd ca.rrying on various duties of government.

A winning football team, a first class band, along with other accomplishments of various clubs and individual students rates pride high on the list of things shared by students. The pride of Belton traveled to California to participate in the Tournament of Roses Parade. The Marching 100 was the ficial Texas representative in the parade. A decorated car displays the sentiments of the entire student body.
