A winning football team, a first class band, along with other accomplishments of various clubs and individual students rates pride high on the list of things shared by students. The pride of Belton traveled to California to participate in the Tournament of Roses Parade. The Marching 100 was the ficial Texas representative in the parade. Joe Price, Harold Whitis, Grant Critchfield, and John Cox were Belton's representatives at Boys State. Representatives to Boys and Girls State are chosen on the basis of grades, conduct, leadership, and various other qualities of good character. They participate in learn- ing of the state government by holding elections among themselves a.nd ca.rrying on various duties of government. Band members take advantage of a rest stop on the way to California. A student of BHS generally shares one thing with all his fellow students-the enthusiasm and spirit displayed at sports events. Belton has been well known for its tre- mendous school spirit and this year the town as well as the student body backed Big Red through Quarter Finals. Big Red cheerleaders lead the team onto the field at the beginning of another game. On the sidelines, the cheerleaders encourage fans in cheering on Big Red. Kathy Meredith displays her enthusiasm and skill at one of the pep rallies. . . .A QILI-I OFENTHUQVXQM The Tiger Dolls contribute spirit in the stands at the Homecoming game. The Marching 100 takes the field for a vic- tory march after the Big Red Machine plows over another opponent. H NG... I 1 I ! Homecoming at BHS is a festive occasion which in- cludes the selling of mums , the crowning of a Queen, and the added excitement of the bonfire. The day before Homecoming, students are excused from classes early and spend the remaining part of the day gathering wood. That night, the fire is lit and a pep rally accompanies the proceedings. All of these are traditions at BHS. Miss Susan Kelton was crowned Homecoming Queen in pre-game ceremonies at the Belton-Gatesville game. A V, lik U I H HV H yggfigi WEMIE I 535' ' VW'WfLLf I . .
