When no one offered to become a composer, Mr. C. B. Ransom, who was principal, suggested that the school song from the high school in Birmingham, Alabama, be used. The song was tried out at an assembly and the stu- dent body liked in Although it was to be temporary it is still used. All hail to the Red and the White, boys The colors we love so well, Your loyal sons now salute you As the songs on the breezes swell; Then here's to the Red and the White, boys For you we will ever fight, For the flag of our dear old high school win The colors of Red and White. FOREWORD 0 THE RED AND WHlTE DEDICATION It has only been three years since Mrs. Rosemary Johnson was first pictured in the faculty section of a Belton Lair. She started as an American history and an English instructor, but her average day now includes lending a sympathetic ear to some poor teenager, giving a boost to someone's morale, taking teasing from two-hundred sixty stu- dents, corralling ele- ven members of the annual staff, and ex- erting her energy and understanding of the student body to their greatest capacity. We, the Student Body of Belton High School, by popular vote, very proudly and with great respect and affection dedic ate this edition of the Lair to our very own. .. Mrs. Johnson Standing: C. V. The Tigers won all their games except two. One of these two games was the Bi-District tangle with Brady. Despite this, Big Red has climbed into the lime- light by becoming District 20 -AA Champions of 1956 for the first time since 1952. Belton's Friday night games turned out to be one of the most outstanding high school football events. Our coaches have done a wonderful 2 job in training these boys and this has been proved by the hard work and good sports- manship in all their games. We feel that they have played an exciting game of foot- ball this year and have brought out more spirit and support from their fans than Belton has had for several years. We are proud of you, Big Red.
