' I A 0 I' H' . 2 52 Senlor I-hstory It was a memorable day in September of 1941 when Mrs Moore heard the clatter of little feet The pioneers of the '53 graduating class are Norma Allen, Ellen Meador, Betty Phillips Jln Meador, Philip Khoche, Jay Boehm, and Fred Ashbaugh Those seven members attended all twelve years of school We were very proud of our Rhythm Band the first year in All the first grade girls were butterflies and the boys Jack Frost's little helpers in the operetta WJack Frost here school were That cute little blonde, Donna Mucke, joined our group in the second grade Remember the time Betty Phillips played the part of Priscilla Lane and Jay Boehm and Fred Ashbaugh played the parts of Miles Standish and John Alden Betty had an awful time saying the only speech of the entire play which was nspeak for yourself, John N Also remember the time Ellen was to sing in a trio about Ole McDonald's Farm, but she got sick One boy, Fred Wear, entered our class in the fourth grade We will never forget those spelling bees and arithmetic con tests we had that year One day in the fifth grade a man dressed in an Army uniform entered our classroom leading a small boy, but cute Yes, you are correct, it was Dr Tracy with Terry Terry was a very interesting boy for he told us all about the school he attended in the Panama Canal Zone, before starting to Belton Terry wouldn't sit on the back row because he couldn't hear Our class was divided e with ten boys Maggie Yeates hailed from O k so large the fifth year that it had to be shy Norma Allen was the only girl in one class until Helen O'Ne1ll moved to Belton in March joined our group in the sixth grade e lahoma Also from High Blue came Rosebud Groh Barbara Brenham and Terry McCush entered Belton High our Freshman year After we got adjusted to changing classes, finding rooms, and learning the combinations to lockers, we gave our first sponsor, Mr Mannen, quite a time Our Sophomore year was crowded with sweet memories of all our activities David Long entered our class lwe can't forget himj from East High in Kansas City, Missouri George Thornton entered our class the Junior year, from Nevada How he got out of Nevada we'l1 never know We presented nMiss Jimmyn which was a huge success We were banquet held at Santa Fe Hills Country very proud of our Club, although we to arrive, before had to walt on a couple of Junior girls starting the dinner married couple, Aletrice and Ted Schuman, Our Senior year a entered our class Thornton also mar from Clinton Helen O'Neill and George ried in March, 1955 We presented nHave a Date H That was a success in Belton High on April 10 This ends our school day history, and we are out to make more Yes, we're the proud class of '53 0 0 a o .A . 1 N o o A o a A n s , Q .. s 0 Q o Q e . Ip If I, n I, - I1 I, , W W. n Senxor Prophecy IMAGINE yourself reading a Los Angeles Newspaper dated 1975 You would find an article such as the following GALA EVENT AT nDAVE'Sn Mr David Long, the owner of a swanky night club in Holly wood, Dave's , invited his high school graduating class to have a reunion at his night club This was the class of 1956 at the Belton High School, Belton, Missouri It was extremely inter estlng to note that every member of the class had become a success in their chosen field The first guests to arrive were Ted and Aletrice Schuman Ted is a plant manager for Bendix in Kansas City, Missouri Aletrice, a housewife, is designing hats in her leisure time Next came Mr James G Meador and his beautiful wife Mr Meador is now the lawyer for T W A Then Mr Frederick C Wear entered followed by Mr and Hrs J T Boehm who had been visiting in the Wear's home in Burbank prior to the reunion Mr Boehm is a prominent businessman in Chicago and Mr Wear is an aeronautical engineer for Lockheed Aviation Corporation Among the guests were the former Miss Norma Sue Allen and Rosebud Groh They, together with their husbands, own a large horse ranch in Texas former Betty Jane Philips and Ellen Meador Betty Jane has retired from the modeling profession to marry a very eminent fashion designer Ellen devotes part of her time, aside from being a wife and mother, to being a fashion designer and artist in which she is very well known Prominent businessmen in attendance were Mr Terry McCush, Mr J P Khoche, Mr Frederick A Ashbaugh, and Mr George Thornton Mr McCush is a store manager for nBloomingdales in New York From Detroit is Mr Ashbaugh, the businessman who made a fortune in designing his new car J P Knoche owns scores of Ford, Mercury, and Lincoln distributing agencies Mr Thornton and his wife, the former Helen O'Ne1ll are now living in New York City Mr Thornton owns a number of gas service stations across the nation Margaret Yeates, Donna Mucke, and Barbara Branhamfmaiden names are used for conveniencel are happy in their chosen fields Margaret is one of the best dressed women of the U S in her WAC uniform Donna is the secretary to a top general in the Air Force Barbara is currently appearing with her husband in the comic television show, I Love Babsn At the last moment before the ceremonies were to begin, Dr T A Tracy and his wife rushed in Dr Tracy, the eminent surgeon, had been detained because he had to preform an emergency operation In this operation he employed a new technique devel oped by himself and now is used by the more skillful surgeons The reunion was enjoyed by all members of the graduating class of 1953.
