BELT BUCKLE I DISTRICT TOURNAMENT Belt did not climb up the ladder as far as she expected this year, but got fourth in the District Tournament which was held in Great Falls, February 22, 23, 24, and 25, 1928. The first game Belt played was against Valier. This game was a slow one and Belt walked away with a score of 42 with 20 for the oppon- ent's side. Great Falls outclassed Belt in the second game played on the 23rd and the score ended with Great Falls 30 points ahead of Belt. The score was 51 to 21. Belt's third game was played against Shelby. The two teams Were very well matched against each other in size but when it came to playing- well-We beat 42 to 20. Belt's last game which made the final decision of where we would stand in the Tournament, was played against Chinook, a fast, peppy team. The quintets were well matched and the game was very fast and interesting. But-let's get at it-the game ended, 27 to 24, with us on the big end of the score, and Belt got fourth place in the Tournament. COUNTY TOURNAMENT The County Tournament was held January 27 and 28 of this year at Great Falls. Belt played three games in which she lost one, the first that was played, against Great Falls. The game was very fast and the audience was held in suspense until the very end. Great Falls was favored by the referee but even then they only beat us by four points. Score was 36 to 32. Belt's game with Simms was a slow one and we walked off with a score of 50. Simms was consoled with 28 points. Fort Shaw was favored in the last game but through good work, Belt got in the lead and the game ended in our favor. The score was 33 to 18. 1923 lf I

494- -BELT BUCKLE Sigurd Johnson Joe Gossack Coach Zweifel Edward Florek Chas.Klimas Andy Harcharik Myron Johnson Martin Leland BASKETBALL On November 15 Coach Zweifel called a meeting of the boys interested in Basketball. A large number responded C205 in which was some Very good material. Three of the first string were back from last year. The Class series were played Friday, Nov. 19, 1927. The Seniors vs. Sophomores and the Juniors vs. Frosh. The Seniors and Juniors emerged victorious. Monday night, Nov. 22, the finals were played. The Frosh and Sopho- mores played a fast and thrilling game in which the Frosh won by a close margin. 10-11. The game between the Seniors and Juniors was fast and exciting through the entire period. At the end of the first half the Seniors were at the big end of the score, 11-8. During the second half the Juniors showed some real teamwork and at the end of the second half the score was tied 19-19. An extra period of three minutes was played. In the last five seconds a Junior member was fouled and was allowed one shot. They made it and won the game by a score of 20-19. The final placings were as follows: Juniors, Seniors, Freshmen and Sophomores. . 1928 mc' R li--
