BELT BUCKLE GIRLS' VOCATIONAI. CONFERENCE Helyne Remington and Ethel Ranta represented Belt at the Girl's Vocational Congress at Bozeman, November seventeenth to nineteenth. On their return they each gave a speech in the assembly, imparting to their fellow students the benefit of the speeches which they so fortunately were able to hear. They reported having had a jolly trip and much fun afforded by the companionship of over two hundred girls from every part of the state. BOYS' VOCATIONAI. CUNGRESS The following boys attended the Boys' Vocational Congress: Joe Pil- lar, Commercial, Earl Kennedy, Vocations, Bill Remington, P. T. A.3 Harold E. Johnson, Eino Kivi, Billy Porter, Stanley Penn, Clarence Jewell, Animal Husbandry, James Provin, Chemistry. Sigurd Johnson attended as a guest of M. J. Abbey. This was the largest delegation that had ever been sent from Belt. The feature of this trip was the judging done by the three on the Stock Judging Team, Eino Kivi, Billy Porter, and Harold E. Johnson. They were awarded a trip to Portland having won first place on the Great Northern Line. A thing not to be overlooked was the splendid coaching of D. L. MacDonald, Mac! Sigurd Johnson, A Senior , was taken on the trip as a guest of M. J. Abbey. This is an honor, the first of the kind offered to anybody in the school. Sigurd's good work in this is not to be forgotten. While down there the boys attended several speeches, given by prom- inent men in this country. After listening to these speeches they at- tended basketball games and saw the famous Bobcats in action. DEBATING In the district debating contest held at Simms this year Augusta was the winner, Belt taking second place. The Belt team was composed of Joy Browning and Alex Childerhose. EXTEMRORANEOUS WRITING For the first time in several years Belt took part in the State Ex- temporaneous Writing Contest. The nine best essays in the state were chosen and the authors and their chaperones invited to Butte during the State Basketball Meet. This year Helyne Remington was one of the nine and with Mrs. MacDonald made the trip to Butte. ' 1928 lf 1 'iii
