November 5, 1936 In Memory of Harlan Lowry It is just seven weeks ago today That my best pal, Harlan, passed away. He was the same as a brother to me And I cou1dn'tsee whyit had to be. It could easily have been someone not quite so near Or someone who was never quite so dear. Everyone aroundhsre is often heard say He is quite better off in every way. That, my friends, I cannot see Because he was young and poppy and free. What great ambitions that boy had! And he wasrnver mean, nor very bad He was always ready and willing to help And never acted as though he felt That the task to be done was too much to do ' But kept on working until it was through. He was a great athlete you will have to admit Because in all games he seemed to fit. In my memories forever, he will be For it wouldbe the same if it were he. Donald Wllcoxen in the fall of 1950 and was graduated in May 1936. In school he was active in all class affairs. He took a leading part in all sports and captained the basket ball team in his Junior and Senior years. Through sports band, both school and county, he made many friends both at home and throughout the various coun- ties. His school life exempted his true character in that all his activities were for the good of the school. He was one of the truest, finest boys found in Daniel Winters.Jacksonville, Flah Madalin Baker........Belpre, Ohio Shurley Way..........Belpre, Ohio Freda Love...........Belpre, Ohio Earl Frederick.....Rockland, Ohio Margaret Mayle.......Belpre, Ohio Burma Roush..........Belpre, Ohio Elizabeth Knowles....Belpre, Ohio SUPERINTENDENTS W. CLASS HISTORY The building ru bled as we stam- peded to our seats that day we of- ficially ailed arselves nfreshiesf After Mr. Lightfritz told us to shut up, we settled down to the old grind. A couple of outings were held, and a good time was had by all.' Yassirl Round one was over before long and the stampede started again but we were a little weaker this time. Being certified sophomores we were eligible to compete in a few activities of the school. It was in this year that Mrs. Drum Cour.n culty adviserl taught us the arto picking up paper wads. Our junior year entered like a lamb and there was a generalfeel- ing that some work would have to be done this year. The rings ar- rived early and marked one of our high points in school.Preparations for the banquet were started and E you don't believe it was an NA No. l.n sumptous entertainment ask the guy who was there. And there was that night we sang uAdieun to the senior class. Boy, was that sadl As the new senior class solemly marched to school on the first day of their last year, it was lazily raining. The clouds were low and the day was dull. It didn't take long to get back to the routine th- ough and before we knew it we were getting our lessons betweenclassea Robert Poyet was again our class president to steer us over the fin- al hill. Mr. Kiracofe wasalso cho- sen again for our adviser. From the class were presidents of the Photo- graphy club, Athletic Association , Bachelor's club, Student Council an Monogram club. There were three senf ior members on the S. C. When the day came for the senior assembly, the student body found themselves listening toa musicelre- view with all the latest song hits. Next we found basketball entezdng and again we had three representi - tives from the class on the first team. In all there were five mem- bers on the squad who were seniors. On the girls lineup there were two playing first string with three on the second. And lest we forget , the manager was also a Senior gal. As the basketball season endedwe saw thirteen seniors pounding their brains for the scholarship tests at Marietta. When the results came in we were pleased sith the showing. y , Leonard Holdren Ruth R: What? you are going to sell out and marry that hard-up boarder of yours? what on earth are you going to live on? Marjorie M: We will be all right. The poor fellow owes me enuf to keep us in comfort for years.
