Top row: Lyle Ryan, Harold Stephens, Ralph Wiley, and Robert Poyet. 5 Wayne Stevens is a Junior. His next year's prospectsare fine. His accurate shooting was a great help in making this asuccessful season. He should develop into a mainstay of next year's team. Ralph Wiley uses his heighth to Qggch Otis R. Kiracofe, HCoachU, as we have always called him, has just completed another yearas bas- ketball coach. He has not only de- veloped winning teams, but has de- veloped the boy's characters a s well. The school congratulates you on your splendid record, and wishes you many fine seasons to come. Leonard Holdren--CDutchJwascap- tain this season and he well deser- ved the honor. He was always try- ing and was the leaderon thefloon He scored well over two-hundred points this season, and his con - sistent outstanding playing willbe remembered for many seasons tocome Harry Ngilln Feight started the season as guard, but it was soon evident that the center position was Harry's place. He was except- iionly good at rebounds. Harry con- verted many of these into poi nts. He sank his long shots consistent- ly and was seldom outjumped by an opponent. Thomas Pride was an aggressive guard who was an unusally fine scoring guard. Tom'smanwasalways held in check and he usually out- scored his opponent. Tom was an aggressive player and that earned him the name as a hardbut fairplay er. Bottom row: MargaretDeucher, lildred Luzader, Jane Dressel, Louise Stone He1enBrookhart,MaryLogan,andBetty Baker. He has been converted into a guardand has extremely good prospects for next year. Robert Po et is a good steady guar whose accurate shooting, both longs and shorts, make him a val- 'uable member of the squad. He show- ed fine sportsmanship and spirit throughout the season. Earl Stevens is a junior and be- cause of his Heighth should be up in the air fighting next year. His playing was fine under the basket where he tipped in many points. Richard Hardin is an aggressive guardwhowill Be up there fighting for a position next year. He is always trying and producing much good playing last season. - Howard Stone has developed wonder- fully this year and soon after the firstof the season he was elevated to the first team. He should be a outstanding guard next season. We can count on his being there nex t year with plenty of fight. Harold Stephens was a fair for- ward who saw some service. Jackwas a good shot, both long and short, and showed his merit as a good de- fensive player. Lyle Ryan is a small but fast forward who because of his speed and shooting should be a valuable player next year. The Sophomores have an outstand- ing group of coming stars. These inc1ude:Robert Kesterson,Ear1Sama Gay Santee,Connellatson, andHarold Crandall. These boys saw action as reserves, and we feel that they should develop into good players. TENNIS Tennis has been a minor sport at Belpre High School, but it rs rap- idly developing into a major sport. Belpre will have available three fine public tennis courts on the school grounds this summer. This should stimulate public interest. There are quite a number of young people who are interested in this sport and should develop into good players. These three tennis courts were made available through the C0- operation between the Student Coun- cil and the Athletic Council. Let us all play tennis this summer. GIRL'S BASKETBALL TEAM The t ea m consisted of a number of experienced players.Through the coaching ability of Mrs. McPherson a fine team was developed.Although the girls did not play ve ry many games they were always worthy re p- resentatives of Belpre High SchooL The prospects for next season ar'e bright and they should continue to have a winning team.
