Pill Nelson, who last year brought to BHS another State Championship in basketball, and-who, as athletic director, also brought a 1947 Big Eight football title to Beloit, we respectfully dedicate this BELOITER, in appreciation of his decision to continue serving the athletic department of Beloit High School.

Page 6 FOREWORD ln this, the 1948 BELOITER, we have taken our cue from the immortal bard, VVilliam Shakespeare, who said, almost four hundred years ago: 'AAll the world's av stage, and all the men and women merely players. VVe have attempted to picture our school as a gigantic stage, and our high school careers make up the background for the exciting drama which is soon to be unfolded. We, the students, are the players, and our teachers and principals are the directors, guiding us patiently, showing us the best way to play our parts, to keep the play moving smoothly and efficiently. The clubs, sports, and outside activities are all a part of the dress rehearsal, to prepare us for the big moment, on Graduation Day, when all of the rehearsing is over, and we are waiting in the Wings, ready to step out to play our parts on the stage of life.
