They have assisted in establishing many records and traditions. A few thoughts on the traits of an educated person: a. The educated person cultivates an open mind. b. They always listen. c. They never laugh at new ideas. d. They know the secret of getting along with others. e. Cultivates habits of success. f. Link themselves with a cause. g. Know it is never too late to learn. How many apply to you? The school strives to implant these ideas. Further, a person cannot stand still, they are either moving forward or backward — seif-improving or self-destructing. May these attitudes, ideas, and God's blessing go with you always. Verlin R. Kolman The 1981-82 school year is now history. The 1982 graduates worked hard the past 6 years and have made important decisions to seek additional schooling or to enter the world of work. The graduates are beginning another important era in their lives. We wish them much success! Those of us who will return next year have more goals to set and achieve. Education is an on-going process which takes a total cooperative effort — community, parents, students, faculty — to make it successful. 9

School Board Members Decide on School Policies Robert Lampert. President Beloit Jr.-Sr. High students would like to thank school District No. 273 for all their time and effort. The school boards major projects included: (1) Conversion to gas heating $170,000 (2) 1982 School Van $12,800 (3) Routine filling of the many teaching positions Through your control of policy making and administration you have made BHS a leading school in facility, salary, and courses offered. STm MEMBERS WORK Bonnie Newcomer. Language Arts Peter Caldwell. Language Arts Bill Campbell. Mathematics Craig Cousland, Special Education IV Jackie Larson, Librarian Ed Devore. Vocational Agriculture By the end of the year, most students were acquainted with at least one of the teachers pictured on the following pages. If nof in their classes, surely through clubs or sports. Mr. Caldwell taught freshman English, world history, Comp Grammar. In addition he assisted in coaching junior high football and high school girls basketball. Mr. Cousland spent most of his time helping the special education classes learn new skills. Mr. Campbell, and Mr. Hoestje showed superior dedication in their work with students. Mrs. Newcomer helped get the Junior Class through the hassels of prom. Mrs. Larson stayed busy keeping the library organized. 10
