1981 TROJAN 1982 BELOIT JR. SR. HIGH SCHOOL 1711 NORTH WALNUT BELOIT KANSAS VOLUME 6 student life 3 4 Long Ago Memories Dolls of long ago have all been placed upon the shelf. Mirrors in my mind, reflect ... the changes in myself. Memories are all that's left of shovel-sand box days, of party dresses, mud pie messes, and other childish ways. Broken crayons, bits and pieces, used by a first grade artist. Remembering to stay withint the lines always seemed the hardest. Boys were creeps who pulled your hair and called you nasty names. But, now they've changed, and now insist on playing different games. No more ribbons, no more bows, no more frilly pinafores. Things have changed, nothing seems the way it was before. I know that deep inside me a little girl remains, and how I wish there was a way to bring her back again. Anita Dillner 5 FACULTY 7 School Board Members Decide on School Policies Robert Lampert. President Beloit Jr.-Sr. High students would like to thank school District No. 273 for all their time and effort. They have assisted in establishing many records and traditions. A few thoughts on the traits of an educated person: a. The educated person cultivates an open mind. b. They always listen. c. They never laugh at new ideas. d. They know the secret of getting along with others. e. Cultivates habits of success. f. Link themselves with a cause. g. Know it is never too late to learn. How many apply to you? The school strives to implant these ideas. Further, a person cannot stand still, they are either moving forward or backward — seif-improving or self-destructing. May these attitudes, ideas, and God's blessing go with you always. Verlin R. Kolman The 1981-82 school year is now history. With the help of their nephew Teddy, who believes he is Teddy Roosevelt, they bury their friends in their basement, which Teddy believes is Panama. FEMALE ATHLETES UNITE The 1981-82 school year was a good one for all female athletes at BJSHS for a very good reason. It marked the beginning of a new organization for all girls who had lettered in sports during their high school years. This new club was given the title Girls' Athletic Organization. The GAD'S main objective was to promote athletics in the girls' sports and to encourage others to participate in the athletic program at BJSHS. Although they did not get their program started until after the first of the year, the GAD members accomplished many things during their first year. They held two concession stands to help pay for their yearbook page and to help finance the Athletic Banquet at the end of the year. Horri on Retire I have had the opportunity to work in the Beloit School system the past thirty-seven years. As I look back it doesn't seem possible that the years could pass so quickly. It has been a pleasant time working with B. H. S. students as a teacher, coach, and principal. I am proud to have been a part of our fine school system and I will always treasure the many friendships generated over the years. 0)00 70 O)0QOooo H0S7Q 0)8 Qq 8 145 Goodbye Dear Friends Our song began with laughter, A childhood of dreams. Each day was filled with sunshine. And the joy of childhood schemes. From fingerpaints to Prom Night, Flomework replaced our games. Growing older, growing wiser. Each searching for our fame. The binds between us strengthened. As we grew in different ways. Bright carousels of magic. Composed our happy days. Our melody grows softer. The end is drawing near. Memories flood our thoughts now, As we brush away a tear. Our song fades to a finish. The last note slowly ends. We each step toward our futures. And say goodbye dear friends.
