The Art and Photo club started the year with a picnic in the park. Several members were present to play softball and roast marshmallows over an open fire. When the weather started to get cooler the club moved inside and started off with bake sales to gain enough funds to host a second annual art show. The bake sales turned out very successful as we made quite a little profit off the goods that the members brought to sell. The large membership helped a lot in setting up for the art show and this is one thing that made the art show so successful. Schools that attended were Valley Heights, Belleville, Lincoln, Minneapolis, Ellsworth, and Beloit. Students exhibited artwork at Minneapolis, Hays and Courtland art shows coming home with impressive standings each time. pl.tybo) After a hard played baseball game to work up a good appetite lan Drake, Brad Treaster, and Doug Crumrine, roast their hot « dogs over an open fire in the park. This shop press was built for the shop by Kevin Hewitt and is expected to aid the Ag. Dept. a lot in future years. From (LtoR): Darwin Deets, Dee Sokolosky, Bob Brockelman, Dee James, and Mr. Hessenflow. These nationally known members visited our school in January. This year has proved very productive for the Beloit FFA chapter as we have involved all members at one time, in one activity or another. Our area young farmers are learning things the last couple of years that we have never had the chance to learn before. We participated in several land judging contests, and have rated high. We have learned the basics in good soil and good ho-mesite locations. Out of Vo-Ag. we have learned responsibility for our equipment and our animals. We have learned what the ideal animal looks like through our various livestock judging shows. I believe as a whole the new FFA and Vocational Ag. Dept. will make better people out of our young farmers and will enrich the quality of production from the land. by KEVIN HEWITT 69 FMC GETS IMVOLVED IM COMMUMITY ACTIVITIES Future Medical Careers Club members became involved in several community projects this year. The Trojans finished another outstanding year going undefeated in regular season play, and taking the states' longest winning streak to Peabody to capture the 2A State title for the third year in a row. At the beginning of the season it was not all peaches and cream. The Trojan offense had trouble getting untracked against Concordia and Belleville, scoring only twelve points in each game. The Trojan defense was like a brick wall assuring victories in both contests. Of the thirteen opponents combined the Trojans gave up only 1742 yards throughout the season. Although early season injuries hampered the team's performance , by the third game the offense started to come into its own gaining 3586 total offensive yards throughout the season. After Concordia and Belleville, the Trojans beat Ellsworth 19-0, Southeast 30-16, and Solomon 27-6. Sacred Heart came to towm for homecoming, and the Trojans really started to roll with the outcome being 23-0. With the offense clicking and the defense clamping down, the Trojans finished out the league 9-0 and winning the NCAA title for the second time in it's two year existence, The Trojans started out the state playoffs beating Herington 35-8. Next they traveled to Topeka for Regional action against St. Marys. The Trojans found the going a little tougher than expected the outcome being a favorable 26-15 win.
