Yell Leaders Cheer for Trojan Triumphs Cheerleaders, BACK ROW SITTING: June Sibley, Mary Lynn Hodgson, Linda Dobratz, Michelle Guipre, Chris Heidrick, Carolyn Kirgis, Tammy Osborne, Sheila Wilcoxson, Karen Petterson, Nancy Forster, Vicki Underhill, Terri Wilson; FRONT ROW: Loma Case, Judy Donker, Kay Widrig. not pictured Tammy Ridgeway. Cheerling for state football, state wrestling and sub state basketball, as well as regular season games, the cheerleaders roused the spirits of many Trojan fans. The wrestling and freshman squads attended the NCA summer camp at Rock Springs and the varsity squads attended camp at Hays. They won a variety of honors. The wrestling cheerleaders hosted a cheerleading lounge at the State Wrestling Match and the Beloit Invitational tournament. In the spring, seniors Loma, Michelle and Chris cheered for the Shrine Bowl game in Lawrence. An eight girl squad cheered during football season and then split with four girls for girls athletics and four for boys basketball. Varsity football cheerleaders work to get the Pep Rally crowd enthused. 24

Gi'rIs' Team Faces STiffCoMpEm;oN Coach Harper plans new team strategy. Becky reaches high to secure a tip in. Everyone has their eye on an important tip. Lynette goes for two points. The girls' team started off the 76-77 season on the right foot, winning their first two games. They defeated Scandia 41 to 40 and pounced Sacred Heart 46 to 20. After the second game the Trojans ran into bad hick, losing the rest of their games. The girls showed that they could put the ball through the hoop, scoring up to 46 points in a game, but it just wasn't enough. The Trojans had three girls average in double figures; Becky Farmet l3.3, Holly Hartman-12.5, and Lynette Terry-11.2. They were followed by Chris Peterson-5.7, Deann Cox-1.6, Kathy Drake-1.2, Brenda Poulton-.8, Tammy Larsen--.6, Pat Jenkins-.08, and Mary Lynn Hodgson-.04. The girls will be strong next year, losing no players. Coaching the team was Head Coach Paula Harper and Assistant Chuck Hessenflow. ,
