Art and Photo club was very active this year due the participation of more members. At the beginning of the year the constitution was revised to include seventh and eighth graders. In the fall, the Club sponsored a picnic and softball game. Other activities included a guest speaker on color photography, from the Lens Cap in Manhattan, Kansas; a lesson on portrait drawing by Jim Nelson and the schools first art show. Art competition consisted of entries from five schools in areas ranging from ceramics to pencil drawings. Over 300 guests attended and the group hopes to makes the event a annual affair. Money raising projects for the art show included selling bumper stickers and baked goods. 1. Mr. Pillard explains contest procedures to Ted Krone, art instructor at Cloud County Community Junior College who judged the events. 2. Local residents came to see and enjoy the different art exhibits. 3. Chris and Carter helped with registration during the show. 4. Jim Nelson, resident artist, was the guest speaker at the December meeting. 5. Jutta, Jerry and David view pencil drawings as Mr. Krone and Mr. Pillard discuss results. 6. Club members enjoy a weiner roast at the Fall picnic.

BACK ROW-Judy Donker, Brenda Ridgeway, Susan Ka-del, Shari Fulhage, Kody Kimerer, Carolyn Kirgis, Janis Thompson, Joy Conley, Linda Dobratz. The 1976-77 Marching Band consisted of 91 members. They performed at eight games, marched in four parades including the Fall Festival parade, the Jewell Corn Show, the Veterans Day Parade, took part in the dedication for the museum and played for the Vo Tech graduation. The band performed a new program at each football half-time. On Nov. 6, the band participated at the Hays Marching contest and received a rating of one I and two II+'s. The Twirlers and Drill Team placed second in the contest and the Flags placed third. At the end of the year the band had performed for the public forty-three times. DIRECTOR- Carl Fitzgerald, DRUM MAJORETTE- Holly Hartman.
