(David Zachary, '76) The BHS Cross Country team was seen in early fall jogging along at a steady clip preparing for their Cross Country races, which consists of two miles. With ten boys out, Coach Randy Woelk was able to enter a full team in the meets, something that he was not able to do the previous year. With only one returning letterman, Steve Zachary, the team was an inexperienced one but showed proof of their hard work by finishing fifth in the league meet. Steve Zachary, Gary Smith, Joey Cicanek, and David Zachary were the four boys that met the requirements to earn a letter. Coach Woelk reflects upon the season by saying, The Cross Country team had a full team in all the meets this year. Those Beloit runners that went to the league and regional meets placed well. Melton paces himself at Beloit meet. Beloit team gets a lead early in the race
