Veta Simmons! I thought you were dead!” ”How about some more eyeliner?” . “I thought it was darn good. The best senior play in the last 50 years.” (Mike Blass, 74) Fairly good, we should have them all the time if they had enough people.” (Tim Steiner, '76) The play was fun and exciting, and we had an excellent play cast. It could not have been performed better than it was. (Stephen Zachary, 74) The senior class of BHS presented the play Harvey, written by Mary Chase, in the BHS auditorium on December 20, 1973. Situated in a city in the far west, the three-act comedy is set in the library of the Dowd family mansion; and in the reception room of Chumley's Rest, a sanitarium. The play centers around the exploits of Elwood P. Dowd and his friend, Harvey, a six foot tall white rabbit; and the attempts of Elwood's sister to have him committed to the sanitarium. Due to a lot of hassles, the energy crisis, and a postponement, the play had to be rescheduled for 3:00 p.m. December 20. The play was performed before a small, but appreciative, audience. Cast members left to right: Natalie Hewitt, Charlie Wagner, Rick Harrison, Pam White, Becky Litton, Scott Reiter, Susan Steiner. Not pictured: Pat Kadel, Stephen Zachary, Greg H Hansen, and Tony Hei man.
