A park scene in the Elks Hall was the setting for the 1973 Jr-Sr prom and banquet, May 4th. Streamers of rainbow colors highlighted the ceiling and the wrought-iron rails. The stage was enhanced by a suspended sun and a rainbow. A flowered en- Jr-Sr Prom tranceway and a fountain surrounded by trees and park benches completed the decorations. Teresa Waddell sang The Twelfth of Never accompanied by Becky Litton at the banquet. Janice Gersow, Jr. Class president, presented the prom to the Seniors as a going away present, and Carol Tolbert, Senior Class President, gave the Seniors acceptance and appreciation. Following the banquet, the Juniors and Seniors danced to the sound of White Clover. r

Marizel, escorted by Dana Cox, was the Honorary Queens Attendent for the Winter Sports Festival. Marizel (STANDING) stayed with the Jack Smith family. Barb, a senior at BHS was her American sister. PI Who's that?... . She's so little!... .How do you pronounce her name again? These are some of the comments heard in the halls of BHS since the new AFS student, Marizel Serracin, started her Senior year in Beloit. Marizel is living on the farm with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Smith and Barb. Farm life is one of the things not new to Marizel in America since her parents own a coffee farm in Baquete, Panama. Some of the differences between America and Panama that Marizel named are food (she hates garlic and onions and loves chicken and noodles), not wearing uniforms to school, school hours (they go to school from 7 o'clock to 1:15). They take 8-12 subjects compared to our 6, and she never saw or heard of a cheerleader until coming to BHS. The summer in Panama is from December to April, the opposite of ours, and the one thing that Marizel looked forward to seeing was snow. 74
