Morrell has served his community in that position for 23 years. Previously a teacher in rural schools, Mr. Morrell also taught agriculture and served as principal at Beloit High School. Not limiting his service to the schools, Mr. Morrell has been president of the Community Hospital Board and on the board of directors for the Building and Loan association among other activities. Mr. Morrell received his B. S. degree from Missouri University and attended Chicago University and Kansas University for post graduate work. Beverly Larkins, the able assistant of Mr. Morrell, is pictured in the lower right hand corner. Completing his twenty-third year as principal of Beloit High School, E.M. Chestnut serves as a director of all school activities. He encourages a balanced athletic program, promotes class activities, boosts for a good Trojan music program, and takes an interest in every student. He has served as secretary of the North Central Kansas League for eleven years, devotes time to assist the Chamber of Commerce with educational programs in Beloit, and finds time to play his favorite sport- golf. Mr. Chestnut received his A. in economics from the University of Kansas and his M. S. in history from Kansas State. He taught previously at Manhattan High School. HISHIRY The senior class of 1953 originally started out with an enrollment of 65, and graduated, a class of 57 members. Memories of happy hours together include the freshman Halloween party, collecting clothes for the economy shop, picnics, skating parties and the class plays. The Little Dog Laughed , the junior play, and Spring Fever, the senior play, were not only well received by the community but also served to unite the class in a friendly atmosphere. The Class and their guests took trips into Fairyland and Blue Hawaii for the junior-senior banquet and the senior junior reception, respectively. They also played for the Elks Club Santa Claus parade, the invitation basketball tournament, all home basketball games, and a pre-festival and spring concert. More than 500 students participated in the league choral clinic held in Beloit on November 17 with Clayton Krehbiel, assistant professor of music education at Kansas University, directing the students of six schools in a mass concert. The Mixed Chorus received a highly superior rating in the district contest at Concordia on April 10-ll. The annual presentation of the Messiah and the spring concert rounded out the year's act-1 ivities. Loyce has participated in many school activities, and has been an honor student throughout her high school years.Her friendly has won her many lasting friends. Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Mears, Dorinda Mears was a 1952-53 football attendant. Dorinda has participated in both class plays, has been active in Pep Club as cheerleader, for three years, and has taken part in many music activities. One of the I952'53 football attendants was friendly and attractive, Kathleen Studer, daughter of Mrs. Albert Studer. Kathleen has been a member of the Pep Club, Y-Teens, and music groups. She has also served the school well, as a co-editor of the I952-53 yearbook. Miss Marilyn Holloway, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Holloway was queen for the 1953 basketball season. Marilyn is active in student council, pep club, music, and officer of the senior class. Pat has taken part in many of the school activities and has a smile and friendly disposition that has won her many friends. Nadine has been a class officer, a member of the pep club, Y-Teens, and student council. She was also crowned the 1952-53 Farmerette. Winning third in the Stockton Meet on April 14, the team went on to win six points at the K. U. Relays.
