This center of learning, though medieval in its adornments, abounds in freedom of thought, freedom of action, and freedom of speech. Every man is in reality a king, every woman a queen, with a shining future ahead, if they so choose to make it thus. The stalwarts of the kingdom go forth in friendly competition with others in neighboring castles. Knights, Ladyes, Squires, order and peace as well as give faithful service. A etc., keep true spirit of comraderie prevails through the halls, and there is no real class distinction, whether one be a lowly peasant QB-101 Or a mighty lord CA-125. All hail to Belmont, a shining fortress of education, guard- ing the truths of the world! me 5? X, mil 'L 1 e R 5 b ,m ,,,,,, ,., .A N . , f - HR WW - J 4 1,-GLN M j t. Neal White played an eccentric but kind, Wise grand- father who helped to make matters no easier for the couple. Sandra Morey was excellent in her part of a girl of dubious character and a fondness for drink. The Senior Play really lived up to its title this year, since items were borrowed from all departments of the school for the play. The cast did a commendable job of acting, and the play was well directed by Drama Coach Vivian Le Font and her helpers. Well, Sir, here we are again. We want to say thanks once rnore for everything Yolfoe done for usf' Three happy couples and one happier grandpa. Lincoln scored twice again, once in hoth the third and fourth quarters. lt was once again the passing and catching comhination of Carcia to Fata. H. P. 19 vs BELMONT 16 The Huntington Park Spartans won an upset over the Sentinels on Montgomery Field. Alonzo passed for three of the five touchdowns, while Naliata was leading ground-gainer as he ran for 106 yards, including a hrilliant 80-yard romp. In the first quarter a poor punt to the Biis 20 set up a score, and six plays later Alonzo threw an 8-yard pass to Pete lokanovich. Much credit goes to Ray tThe Toej LeBreton for hooting five consecu- tive conversions, a feat not seen hereahouts in quite a long time. O0 an BELMONT 7 vs FRANKLIN 31 Franklinis passing, catching and running sparked the Panthers to a 31-7 victory on Montgomery Field in the local Milk Bowl. After the Panthers scored on a 51-yard pass play, Belmont quickly started their own attack. Belmont's lone touchdown came in the fourth quar- ter when Daryl Grady blocked a kick on the 32-yard line and raced to the goal for a six-pointer. LeBreton kicked the extra point. Co-captain Pete plokanovich played one of his better games as he blocked 4 out of 5 conversions. He was a demon on both offense and defense throw- ing vicious tackles and hlocks, plus recovering a fumhle. BELL 27 vs BELMONT 13 In losing their second league game, Belmont went down, 27-13, before the onslaught of a surprisingly strong Bell team. The game was a closer contest than the score indicates, as the Eagles scored most of their touchdowns on long runs. Belmont's two touchdowns were made by Pete lokanovich and lohn Alonzo. lokanovieh, whose usual position is end, ran from the fullback position to score from the 8-yard line. The conversion attempt was blocked hy the Bell forward wall. Alonzo went into the Bell end zone with a 6-yard skirt around end. This time the conversion was made hy Bay LeBreton. Iokanovich, Belmont,s All-Eastern end, was in- jured but played the whole game. Also receiving an injury during the game was Nakata. Both of these fine players were out of action in the South Gate game and for the rest of the season. Other Hilltoppers who looked good for Crown Hill were Eddie Cardenas, who did his usual fine joh as fullback and line hacker, limi Abe, who caught two important passes, and David Tokoro, quarterback. BELMONT 20 vs MARSHALL 6 Sparkcd by the running of Akira Nakata and Marvin Lester, the Sentinels smashed the hlue tide of Mar- shall in our Homecoming Milk Bowl game. The only time Marshall scored was in the second quarter, and after that our team began to march, Nakata and Lester gained a total of 169 yards on the ground. Later Nakata was voted the most valuable player in the game-by the Alumni Association ludging Commit- tee, Honors should also go to the linemen, who played the vital part in the game. POLY 21 vs BELMONT 6 The Sentinel gridders went down before the Parrots in a heart-breaking game. Our only touchdown came when Leroy Hicks plunged through the middle in the second half. BEE TRACK The Bee team had some excellent individual performers but lacked the necessary depth and all-around strength to gain the win column consistently. Punugiotis, Fisher, Torres, and Fernandez were expected to help the team make a creditable showing. Next year's team was expected to be bolstered by up-and-coming Cee performers. ,RNA x .M-.AM Q wfmw- A www T E513 we y 'K I' . . L if .fa A fi Q S 'H rv nr.af,.4.?f1 3 F ICQ sd . 1 . zll A .. r .... IQL The Belmont racquetmen showed signs of be- coming one of the best squads in a long while. In their first two practice matches they lost to Manual Arts, 5-4, and defeated Fairfax, a school that is usually considered one of the powers in the city, 4-3. The team, backed by five return- ing lettermen, Choa On Lee, David Lum, Sam Wong, Richard Tully, and Marvin Price, is one of the most ambitious and spirited teams that Belmont has produced. Coach Kenneth Moy is very pleased with the early success of his team and is looking forward to the Hrst league cham- pionship that a Belmont tennis team has taken in many a year. , ,J Zlssurietinn Row 1: S.
