9 P5559 FOREWORD By james Pain This is your book. The Campanile staff takes pleasure in presenting here pleasant memories of the best years of our lives. Constantly progressing toward happier, more democratic campus life, Belmont has es- tablished a new student participation system this term. As acting body of the organization, the Student Council meets every day to discuss the problems of student body government. Many projects established by the group this term have functioned well. The inspiring assembly pledge lbits of which the artist has interwoven with wrought iron gates and those ever present, graceful gulls who commute each day from the seal, the Bel Hop, and the Campus Clean Up are a few of forward looking proiects inaugurated by this group. Thus our Alma Mater, founded on high principles, advances toward truer democracy for all the student body.
