The Keep fhe Kampus Klean Kampaign was sponsored mainly by fhe Legislafive Council and ifs success was commended by bofh sfudenfs and faculfy members. The paper drive, coaf 'hanger drive, efc., efc., were also supporfed by fhe Council. When fhese school proiecfs are announced fo fhe Council, each mem- ber fakes fhe news back fo his respecfive organizafion and, in fhis manner, fhe sfudenf body is informed of fhe coming evenf and urged fo supporf if. Scheduled social acfivifies and aud calls are discussed in defail by fhe Legislafive council. Helpful suggesfionsand crificisms are offered by fhe various members. When fheir enfire meefing 'lime is nof falcen up wifh school business, eac'h member reporfs on fhe acfivifies which are being carried on in his respecfive club. ln doing fhis, fhe presidenfs of fhe various organizafions may gef ideas which may be promofed by fheir own group. If may sound as if fhese Council meefings are always very serious and business-like affairs, however, in spife of fhe heafed argumenfs, gails of laughfer can be heard coming from fhe principal's office during various periods on Wednesdays. 1 . LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL W '42 Row 2-Toru Suqihara, Margaret Steele. Adolph Goldman, Tad Mukalhata. Row 1-Marvin Marsh. Dolly Ummarino. Stanton Agee. Betty Laiioon. Chuda Rhee. Mark Fuller. Iosephine Llpson, Bertram Iones. Rosalie Lipson. With the student body president leading discussions and the student body secretary iotting down minutes, the Legislative Council meets weekly in Mr. Whedon's office. The meetings are 'held during alternate periods each week, with the exception of first and sixth periods. This executive group is composed of the presidents of the Boys' and Girls' League, Boys' and Girls' Control Boards, Hi-Y and Tri-Y, G.A.A., and senior Aye and Bee classes, president and secretary of the student body, Sentinel editor, and Cadet Major. Its functions are mainly to promote student activities and to discuss school problems as representatives of the students. Throughout the term different complaints and suggestions on the school-its activities-pro- cedure, etc.-are told to various members of the Council. The matter is then related to the Council and discussed thoroughly. If the suggestion proves to be of an asset to the school, steps are taken to endorse the idea. It the problem is an un-desirous one, steps will be taken to better the situation. T This term the Council undertook the task of supervising various drives to aid both Belmont and defense. 18
