Whether or not we believe this statement, we have had some great times over the past four years. We are now graduating from Belmont High School and are looking forward to an adventurous and exciting fviture. But let us not forget things past. Over these years, we have all matured together into young adnlts. Friendships have been formed that will last a lifetime. As we have been involved in our various activities, including the Senior Play, proms and dances, there has been a growing unity in class spirit and enthusiasm. Ours has been a special class with a great wealth of talent and energy. As I look back at all the great experiences we have had as a class, I thank you for the memories and wish you all the best. Rich Farrell President of Class of 1986 Class Advisor “Outward Bound, the words used by sailors for that moment when the anchor is weighed and the vessel is committed to the risks and challenges of the open sea. Without commitment and action, the crew would remain untested in the safety and famil- iarity of their own harbor. Without a sense of adventure, the world would remain undiscovered.” You all truly are in a sense “Outward Bound.” Good luck and Good Sailing. Despite the reeord, the Marauders possessed a great deal of individual talent, led by senior Co- Captains Erie Aulenhack, Will Reinhart, Mike Pngliese, and Karl Ivester. Unfortunately, these individual talents were unable to mesh together as a team due to the lack of experience. This stopped the team from ever reaching its fnll potential. The two big obstacles the team faced were; only two returning starters and a lack of player turnout. Although the Marauders sometimes dressed almost half as many players as their opponents, the senior- led s(juad was very competitive in all of its Middlesex League games. Best of Luck to the Marauders in 86. Captains Mike Pugliese, Will Reinhart, Karl Ivester, Eric Aulenhack 130 Field Hockey Front Row; Beth Hickey, Margret Hegarty, Naomi Rubin, Capt. Captains Jen FaiiFanks and Leslie Fay lead their team to one amazing victory over Burlington this season. Al though their record in no way shows the dedication, hard work or ability of the team, they were able to remain friends and continue to work hard. They overcame many obstacles this season: adjusting to a coach, recruiting two new goalies (Thanks Beth Hickey and .Mary Huang), wet fields, ohno.xious captains. Batman and Bliste.x. Even though Senior Nina . rpante conldn’t “drive ”, her and Laura S. Murphy were able to keep the spirit of the team up. Juniors Tory Stone, Naomi Beuhin and Christina Anastos set outstanding e.xamples of offensive and defensive playing. Meanwhile Senior Laura Diane piloted the incoming freshman, e.xpecially Pee Wee Palmer, Laura F. and Paula W. , to keep them from flying around. Nice e.xample Laura. Good Luck to next years captains Besty Looney-Tunes and Mahrgahret Hagarty. Just remember that if this is number one then we re gonna have some fnn. This years record does not totally show the teams effort because we worked very hard to advance and achieve our goals throughout the year. We want to thank David Blumsack, Steven Shea, and Dan Gallant for teaching the team many helpfid things. Good luck to the 1986 varsity soccer team and all teams to follow. Last fall, playing their home games at the Belmont Country Club, the Golf Team stroked to a 5-4 record. Led by Coach Iggy Giangregorio, affectionately called Mr. G, the team struggled through a season full of ups and downs. The high mark of the season was a stunning upset of a strong Lexington Team. The Team included Seniors Matt Murphy and Mike Dow; Junior Co-Captains Jamie Whouley and Rob Deignan, Tom Williams, Greg King and Kate McNamara, who was the first girl to make the GolfTeam in BHS History; Sophomores Chris Gacca, Will Sheridan, Steven Pugliese, David Mavilia and Jay Monahan who finished with a 7-1 personal record and a spot on the Middlesex All-Star Team.
