SENIORS — (isn ' t it typical!) I often wondered in times past if it were going to be easy or difficult to say thank-you and goodbye. I realize now that as our last moments of our lives here at Belmont High are swept by, we will all hold tight to the memories that will be left behind. None of us ever thought that our high school years would pass so quickly. As I reflect back on the past two years how could we forget the dances, week-ends, and all the New scoops, Lance Romance, The Chem Fags, The Arabs, The Pony Party Club, Mini Mafia, The Preps, The Wall Gang, The Horny Clovers, or the ski trip. Now how could any of us forget that wonderful week-end in February or the look on Carol Emello ' s face after she slammed into the lodge, or one of the chaperones who couldn ' t believe it when she saw her bouncing baby boy half in the bag! Or the class picnic at Waverly Oaks that Nancy Najarian is sorry she missed. This year started off differently because it was Senior year — the one we had all been waiting for. How could we forget Godspell , DISCO IN THE BASEMENT, ' ' Bless the lord my (what was that word. Holly?) . As the rehearsals went on it seemed to be getting better Day by Day . I guess that it was All for the Best that we Learn our Lessons Well because the class of ' 79 is The Light of the World . The Halloween party was another exciting evening, with the village people, the six pack of Busch beer, the lady of the evening, the bag of jelly beans, the box of popcorn, the Arabs, the flasher, the European togas and the unforgettalbe Yucca Punch . With a little help from Kimmy and a dash of Hi-C it added a special flavor to the evening. Our many visits to IHOP, M.D.C., Aku-Aku, Tital Gas (oh excuse me Boston Ave. Exxon), and our brand new friend and classmate from Kentucky? (No, Oaklahoma or was it South Dakota: no, I remember North Myrtle Beach, wherever the hell that is). How about Sid ' s unusual and unique tactic of getting a date with one of the Senior class officers, or take a number (who ' s turn is it this week-end, Alex ' s or Digi ' s! ). That wonderful article entitled Esoterically Speaking that had the whole Senior class talking for days about certain quotations such as — The clever feather boa wards off steady Eddie just in time to leave the party and fly south with the birds. , or The line for the facilities is a little longer than usual for the Gardner ' s hose has broken and the fountain has sprung. (but we know who really did it right, Ginny, Lissy, Kevin, and Mark.) Does anybody really know what time it is? (It ' s a . . . ) We could always find out at 176 Watson road, where everybody always had a watch on who was where, with who, doing what? How about the Prom at the Boston Park Plaza, and our unanimous vote for Elissa as Jr. prom queen droops down! (I mean hands down! Sorry, Lissy!) This year ' s Belmont High Marauders turned out to be the best in three years. With a record of 4 6 they weren ' t discouraged because during the whole season they were preparing for one game — Thanksgiving, hosting Watertown at Belmont. We ' ll never forget the unbelievable Seniors that participated in the 12-0 victory over Watertown. Stumpy and Lumpy, Carrot and Covino, Kenny and John, Powers and Darress, Corr and Cassidy, Normile and Haworth, Wisner and Delacey, Shallow and T relegan, Kimmy and Moran, Malecki and Keating, Hatton and Costabile, and the one that did it all, Marlow! (Where would we have been without Marlow or even Pells for that reason.) Though the memories could go on, and on, I am sure that they will always be a part of our hearts and souls (di do di do di do, heart and soul . . . ) Congratulations and best of luck in your future endeavors — Kenny Polcari 2
