His experience, patience, sense of humor, and unfailing calm before deadlines have been invaluable to us throughout the year. Without Mr. Mulford ' s guidance and encouragement, this book would not have been possible. We would also like to thank the many other people who have generously contributed time and interest to this book. The group who has made our job the easiest and most fullfilling, however, is the entire class of ' 78. We only hope that the Yearbook will reflect the diversity and talent of the 360 seniors and the unity of the Class of ' 78 as a whole. 171 Patrons Mr. and Mrs. Paul Aheam Vincent and Sarah Amato Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Analetto Jocko V. and Phyllis Ananian Santo and Josephine Aurelio Mrs. Helen R. Messina They came to Belmont High in the year of 1974 Hoping to be as good or better than the classes gone before Facing a new adventure with feelings that enthralls Open campus, new buildings, nc-w teachers, and study halls Amy was their fearless leader to guide them along Determined to do a good job and right any wrong Nine months later they were still young but much wiser Learned enough to get promoted, had a picnic and met their advisor Suddenly, it seemed, time for a new year and another opening day Now they were sophomores with John to lead the way Gone were the study halls and the teachers were no longer new Class duties were done in earnest but sadly, by so very few A year had quickly passed, most had survived and not quit They had gotten their class rings, had a fair, and grown older, a bit Everyone knew that 1977 would have to be a big year Many things to do, money to earn, and the time was growing near It was up to Jerry to step forward and carry the ball He made a plea for help and many answered the call The year finally ended and they could look back with pride A car wash, a raffle, a yard sale, and the prom seemed to turn the tide Such leadership and success fittingly deserved a repeat of the same And when voting was ended, again Jerry was the name 1978 was the year that really solved the financial squeeze with another raffle and the class play, graduation could be done with ease Soon it will be time to pass once again though the door And some will wonder, has the number of years really been four Yes, it will be the day of graduation for the class of ' 78 And upon reflection, many will say, yes, they really were great ( I ff} ' 1 7 V v JM V 1 BWi A 1
