Mr. Robert J. O’Donnell We, the class of 1969, would like to dedicate our yearbook to Mr. O’Donnell. In this, his first year as our principal, he has shown us that he is a leader of the student body and an advisor for us as individuals. This year has been characterized by a rise in intellectual, athletic, and class spirit, a rise which can be attributed to Mr. O’Donnell. He has not only spoken to us at class meetings but has joined in our activities, such as sports and student government. We are pleased, therefore, to welcome him and the new faculty members, who will surely continue their modern attitudes towards school affairs. Mr. O’Donnell looks over administrative papers. 3

We never looked around us, immersed in our books and bicycles Our swings in their weaving motions tied the earth and sky together and wrapped up our days in neat brown-paper-packages which we never opened. Those cold winter days- we went outside after lunch to stand in tight circles, more for warmth than company. We never once turned our heads to look about us. Underneath the radical sign, did we ever remember to free the four; that square-root four equals two, plus or minus. For better or for worse? Not even when our self-made prison was destroyed by hungry fire, did we melt the circle to warm ourselves at its feet. Instead, we tighter drew the ring, and substituted bunsen-burner flames feeding on man-made oxygen. But was it wrong, to wait? Should we have opened the package before Christmas? Would it be the same, without the long expectant years the wrapping paper made of tests passed and failed, of report cards and football games? They made the gift seem better Because of the waiting. Now we change our mini-skirts for thick robes twice their length. We cover up our Levi’s with identical shrouds. Now, we must cut the string, tear the paper, evaluate the four, to equal plus or minus two. And open the box F. Elizabeth Barry

Mr. O’Donnell at his new duties. Administration Mr. George W. Stone Assistant Principal Students at Belmont High School have profited from the new administration under the auspices of three able leaders. Mr. O’Donnell, along with his responsibilities as chief administrator, has done the remarkable job of co-ordinating the ideas of the faculty, students, and school committee Mr. Stone has organized the intricate mechanics of administration. It is he who has kept the many complicated parts of the high school running smoothly and effectively. Mr. Corrigan has directed that portion of the curriculum designed to train young men in technical skills. With the great success these three men have met in their new roles, it is evident that the future success and achievement of our school will be due to the energy emanated by this administration. Mr. John J. Corrigan Part-time Director of Vocational-Technical High School; Metal Fabrication; Key Club
