Mr. John W. Allen Music; Band; Stage Band “I didn’t compose THAT one!” Music Mr. Howard A. Nettleton Director of Music; Singing Debs; Glee Club Mr. Dominic J. Amoruso Music; Band “Never double or omit the third!” is an order in music class. The student should know how to harmonize a melody, so that if he is given a bass note he can add a melody and some harmony. To the true music-lover belongs the extraordinary talent of being able to make sense out of the conglomeration of notes, intervals, and triads that he finds sprinkled across the staff. Of course there’s a quick answer when the Master of Perfect Pitch asks, “What note am I playing, Josh?” And why not wind up class with a discussion of how much money one can make as a musician?— “Symphony men can also get $10 for a lesson!” 26

I • TT-wyiT » ♦ ■ I In the Machine and Metal Fabrication Shops a workman is judged by the way he selects and uses the tools of his trade. For this reason it is important that a student know how to select and use properly both the hand and machine tools that are commonly used in the trade. This is the first step on the road toward becoming a successful tradesman. A finished job may be a masterpiece of fine work- manship, but it is extremely important to know about the materials— their grade, size and characteristics and where they are used.
