“There’s too much diffraction in this class!” “I’ve finally graduated from my erector set.” “If you blow up a hydrogen generator, you will be immediately banished from the laboratory!” With this deified voice, chemistry lab manuals command certain dis- ciplines. Cautiously, chem students, better known as “plumbers”, prepare to explore those age-old mysteries of this science, such as: how to burn rubber tubing, how to get one’s finger down a one-quarter inch diameter thistle tube, or how to “legally” purloin your associate’s equipment. Besides a thorough understanding of the basis of physics, students of this science are also confronted with new nebulous ramifications. A student learns about the mo- tivation of the domestic Basset Scat, as well as the mega- lomania of the fierce Orangel. One also may reflect over the virtues of a virtual image versus a real image. Finally, students learn the universal relations second only to Einstein’s theory— Finagle’s laws. Ricky experiments in the lab. Mr. Richard H. Howick Biology Miss Mary M. Ryan Biology Mr. Paul E.
