“There’s too much diffraction in this class!” “I’ve finally graduated from my erector set.” “If you blow up a hydrogen generator, you will be immediately banished from the laboratory!” With this deified voice, chemistry lab manuals command certain dis- ciplines. Cautiously, chem students, better known as “plumbers”, prepare to explore those age-old mysteries of this science, such as: how to burn rubber tubing, how to get one’s finger down a one-quarter inch diameter thistle tube, or how to “legally” purloin your associate’s equipment. Besides a thorough understanding of the basis of physics, students of this science are also confronted with new nebulous ramifications. A student learns about the mo- tivation of the domestic Basset Scat, as well as the mega- lomania of the fierce Orangel. One also may reflect over the virtues of a virtual image versus a real image. Finally, students learn the universal relations second only to Einstein’s theory— Finagle’s laws. Ricky experiments in the lab. Mr. Richard H. Howick Biology Miss Mary M. Ryan Biology Mr. Paul E. Cowing Science Department Chairman; Chemistry Althougli bilogy includes great amounts of classification (kingdom, phylum, tedium ad nauseam), one can also gain the singular experience of investigating, and destroying, the intestines of a frog, the brain of a newt, or the xylum and phloem of a diseased crocus. However, many find mitosis and the reproductive cycles of protazoa more stimulating. Regardless of what you prefer, biology provides an oppor- tunity to pursue the field of science closest to Homo sapiens (sapiens?). Mr. Winslow H. Russell, Jr. Physics; Science Club Miss Sandra Burke Biology Ho, hum, another day of discovering a new hyperspace propellant. It’s easy, just follow the 250 simple steps.

Don’t forget to move the carriage when erasing! Wliere’s the Office Manager for the month? THINK-BE NEAT, BE ACCURATE. Young ladies do not chew gum in an office! Hurray for Monday morning dictation and teensy-weensy pencil footings! Are you here? Today’s Dress-up Day— you won’t be able to wear skirts that short in the business world!’’ “Can 1 borrow your eraser?” 20
