REFLECTIONS WE now have reached a milestone in the river of time, high school graduation. Up to this time, the course of the river has been channeled for us, flowing through the protective banks of Belmont High School. As we approach the turbulence of the open seas, let us pause to look back at the myriads of reflections playing on the surface of our river. Some of these images arc gay and rippling—football games in the crisp, sparkling air. Some are deep and quiet—the rows of capped and gowned seniors marching to the strains of “Pomp and Circumstance.” The water runs swiftly and the images arc fleeting. We have tried to capture some of them in the pages of this book, so that we may forever hold in our memories the reflections on our years at Belmont Senior High School. “Mirror, mirror on the wall,” Which year has been the best of all? Let’s go back to “fifty-eight” When to be sophomores was our fate. New-found freedom; life was gay, (Overlooking Sophomore Day.) Harder work for every one. High school wasn’t merely fun! The Lexington rally opened the year, And joyfully, dressed in red, wc cheered. The game was called because of rain, But postponement seemed a victory gain! Winter showed ability and ambition. Kevin and Paul brought our class recognition. Kevin tied for first in national track. And Paul became captain with his hoopster knack. Our first class meeting introduced Doctor B.’ To work with us in harmony. Electing officers for next fall Brought us Nancy, Arnie, Tex, and Paul. Passing finals, wc became Juniors for a year of fame. Junior Salute Hop was our first dance. Spirit and friendship it did enhance. PSAT’s the following week Proved some of us to be scholastically meek. One boy, however, did exceptionally well, As his 80 math score did tell. £ a s n }8 committee was formed in November, eir efforts gave us a new ring in December, so, th,s month Mood Indigo was presented, e viewed the streets of New York as we entered.
