E N G L I S H Mrs. Hornsey— Climax! Denouement. English 12—Fourth Period Class The study of the English language is a basic and important need for all of us. It is therefore iinjjerativc that it be taught by excellent teachers. In all respects, Mrs. Hornsey has “filled the bill.” The staccato interjection of word?” when one was uncertain of a meaning was but a part of her delightful and thorough effort to teach us vocabulary. Mrs. Hornsey can make even the dry contents of Vitalized English” really vitalized. Her profound acquaintance with Bill” Shakespeare's writings made Macbeth come alive, and it has kindled a life-long interest in the varied plays and sonnets of this immortal bard. What sometimes followed was one of her numerous philosophical discussions, the kind for which she has been noted. Or she may have turned to vocabulary, grammar, poetry, Shakespeare, or theme writing, to provide a well-rounded background for pre-college students. Her remarkable facility with wortls was the envy of all. Senior English—First Period Class The STAR has undergone its usual titanic struggles against deadlines, printing problems, anti censored copy, but, as ever, the news came through in full color and third dimension. Avid readers could not but be pleased with the high quality of the news articles, the features, and the literary masterpieces found on its pages. 16
