CLASS HISTORY It was just four short years ago when we, now Seniors, launched ourselves into high school. There were forty-five of us and we were as green as the greenest Freshmen, We chose Miss Christeen Hankins asjour sponsor for that year, and she was very nice to us, indeed, The Fresh- man class officers were: Harold Ginn, Presidentg Evonne Bennett, Vice President, Marie Pardue, Secretaryg Linda Tiffin, Treasurerg and Jerry Stephens, Reporter. We selected Memphis, Ten- nesee for our class trip, and everyone had a wonderful time, We began our Sophomore year in 1954. Our sponsor was Mr. Clyne Harris, who was a very cooperative leader, The officers during that year were: Milton Parker, President, Harold Ginn, Vice President: Evonne Bennett, Secretary-Treasurer, and Joyce Pardue, Reporter. Our social life consisted of a class trip to Tishomingo State Park for a chicken fry, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed himself, The Junior year began with a boom! As our sponsors, we chose Mr. and Mrs. Orville Helton, who helped us share our troubles in a happy way and were very good to us, Our class officers were: Dolan Taylor, President: Margaret Yarber, Vice President, Bobby Woods, Secretary -Treas- urerg and Joyce Pardue, Reporter. During our Junior year, we presented our play, Good Glory , which was very successful. Later that year, we made our class trip to Nashville, Tennessee, and it was enjoyed by all, Our next step was to entertain the Seniors, We entertained them with a formal banquet at Tishomingo State Park, and everyone had a wonderful time. Our Senior year began July 23, 1956, We chose for our sponsor Mr. Donald Johnson, who has been very nice to us in every way. To guide us through our last year, we selected as our class officers: Jerry Bostick, Presidentg Joyce Pardue, Vice Presidentg Linda Tiffin, Secretary-Treasurerg and Jerry Stephens, Reporter, We bagan our social life with a swimming party and chicken fry at Tishomingo State Park, and it was a very enjoyable time for all. In many ways our last year of high school is a sad one, because we realize that each will soon take his place in life. We are looking forward with pleasure to our Senior Play, the Junior -Senior Banquet, our class trip, and graduation exercises. In conclusion, allow us to say that, as Seniors of '57, though we have sorely tried the patience of our teachers, we leave them with a heart full of love and the kindest wishes that the past is but a prophecy of the much good they will accomplish for the Senior classes in the future of Belmont High School.
