CLASS HISTORY It was in the years of 1949 that we, now Seniors, launched ourselves into high school. That was only four years ago and those years seem very short to us. There were only twenty-nine of us, and we were as green as the greenest freshman. We selected Mr. Lyman McAnally as our Class Sponsor and he was a very good one. We elected Tommy Clark as our President, Jerry Martin as Vice President, and Willa Searcy as our Secretary. Our social life consisted of one class trip to Memphis, Tennessee. We contributed only one player to the basketball team-- Bobby Nell Harris, but she represented us with good playing and sportsmanship. Our Sophomore year was begun by selecting Miss Jerry Crane as our Class Sponsor. She was very nice to us throughout the year. Our Class Officers were, Bonnie Goddard, President, Tommy Clark, Vice President, and Eunice Northington, Secretary. We chose Nashville, Tenn- essee for our class trip and everyone thoroughly enjoyed himself. Dexter Patterson represented our class on the basketball team and is still representing us. The Junior year started with only few in number but we were determined to make a success- ful year. We elected Mrs. J. P. Fulton, Jr. as our Class Sponsor and our Class Officers were, Tommy Clark, President, Virginia Henley, Vice President, Betty Sue Gentry, Secretary. We started our social life with a Christmas Party. We played games and exchanged gifts and it was an enjoyable time for all. Next, we chose Memphis, Tennessee for our class trip. Our next step was to present a play and make enough money to entertain the Senior Class with the nicest banquet on record. Mrs. Fulton selected A Ready Made Family which was very successful. We entertained the Seniors with a formal banquet at Tishomingo State Park and it was enjoyed by fifty-six students and five faculty members. Our class was fortunate in having six members selected in Who's Who Contest. Tommy Clark was Mr. Belmont High, Dexter Patterson was the Most Handsome Boy, Amelia Mayhall and Jerry Martin were the Most Intellectual, James Richard Sparks was the Friendliest Boy, and Bobby Nell Harris the F .F.A. Sweetheart. We are now in our last year of high school. In may ways it is a sad occasion because we realize that each will take his place in life. As Mrs. Fulton so wonderfully sponsored us in our Junior year, we unanimously elected her to sponsor us again this year. To guide us through our Senior year, we elected the following officers: Jerry Martin, Presidentg Dexter Patterson, Vice President, and Amelia Mayhall, Secretary. We are looking forward to the banquet, class trip, senior play, and our graduating exercises. We sincerely hope that each Senior Class hereafter will be successful and happy.
