SENIOR CLASS HISTORY The class of 1956 now realize what it is llke to be leaving dear old Belmont High But before we do, let us refresh in our minds the memories that we enjoyed throughout our four years together As freshmen, we entered high school on September 2, 1952, with 3 students Twenty two of us had gone the previous 6 grades in Belmont, while ll had completed grade school in Morristown Merle Hickenbottom came over from New Athens, and as the year progressed along, Glenna Burghy hailed in from Bellaire Then in November, we were glad to welcome Shirley and nvaline Morrison .from Jane Lew, West Virginia, giving us a total of 37 This year we presented two plays, nGone with the Girls, and 'A Perplexing Situation, in which most of the class took part Mrs Mitchell was director of both plays On September l, l953, we entered school as gay young sowhomores Four did not return this year, so we started out with 33 eager to learn students In the spring Delores Weekly, from Martins Ferry, joined our class, but withdrew weeks later along with Shirley and Evaline Morrison This year, we gave our play entitled nPlain Sister,' directed by Miss Groves The girls had a wonderful time serving at the Junior Senior Banquet All too soon September 7 rolled around and we became 'jolly juniors We started the year with a merry 29 Our class play this year was Our Miss Brooksn directed by Mrs Neuhart we received our class rings at the beginning of the Junior ye r We were honored to have the seniors as our guests at the Junior Senior Banquet Our Commencement Finally after A long years, we became seniors We started the year out with 29 hard worklng boys and girls We worked very hard all year to raise money for our class trlp in May Some of the methods for raising money were selling magazines, cafeteria, selling at games, etc In October, we all had our pictures taken Our class play also was in October It was a comedy entitled, n0ld Doc Our director was Mrs Neuhart We give our best wishes to all our underclassmen and hope that they enjoy their h years of high school as much as we have We also wish to thank our teachers who have given us patient understanding throughout these years if ffif7i54ifW5r15:,, A fei'1?f111' WMI JN FJWO QQQQ-J rw WWX sgfN?HeJ2f'J'? fcgi nf X7 0,30 db.-L, fe. wW 9'-Q L46 ll' u ' V L ll U N Y T n I ' 1' . 6 U . I 0 , PROPHECY August 27, 1960 Dear Milly, I have decided to write and tell you about my traveling experience over the U S, Don and I are now livlng in Florida and have two sets of twins, which as you know, we have always wanted. I'm sorry that we could not visit you and Pete, but, as German is a great distance, and our time is limited, we could not possibly have made it, First, we went up to the Great Lakes and there we met Pauline Powell and Jay Loy, or I should have said Mr and Mrs Loy, for they were on their honeymoon As we traveled on, we stopped at a hotel owned and operated by Dale Kemp, he is also a great T V fan and told us of Clem Will1ams'being George Gobel's better half H also said that Darkane Freeman is now L1lerace's asslstant at the plano, she always was a great pianist We came down to Detroit to the Davls and Durigg Airplane Races and guess who the two managers were? None other than John Davis and Don Durigg We ate dinner at the Stork Club, where Edna Carpenter, Freda Kemp, and Dot Wise, were entertainers They told us that Rita Jones is a beautician, Susan Orrison, a famous red headed model, and Pat Kobus is still working in Cleveland There we saw Mary Duvall in the ticket office On the plane, the two stewardesses were Peggy Rice and Janet hotera In the seat opposite us sat our old classmates, Sara Doty, Sue Fulton, and Rlchard Ogilbee They are now stationed at an army hos ital in Texas Sue and bare and Richard is a doctor hey were stationed at Arizona, visited Marllyn and Eddie McCann Marilyn said that she Pat and Bob Groves frequently are nurses where they heard from Hazel after several years of hard studying Young and Loretta Loy have received their Masters Degree Glenna Burghy is a secretary for Jin1Kemp, who 13 head of the Agrlcultural Department in Columbus Last but certainly not least is Gary Householder, who is married to Sheila and is now coaching basketball at West Liberty He always was fond of basketball and very fond of Shells Well, Milly, Don and the twins will be home in an hour for lunch so I will close Please write and tell me how you like married life I hope you are as happy as I am Your old classmate, I Y I I , .
