Class History of 1904 Wc the class of l95-4 now rcal1ze what 1f.1S to be Semors of Belmont Hlgh School It 1S our rcspons1b1I1ty to lmok 1nto thc future and to dcc1de what we wtsh make of lt We should look xnto the past and cvaluate the goals whxch our part nts an: team hers expected us to atta1n Let us recall some of thc exents wh1ch haxe happens tn the last few years In the year of 1950 we started as freshmen w1th a class of 30 nlne of whom came from Morr1stown They were Laverna Wtlson Nancy Greenlee Tom Waln Louella Neff Ella Mae Gr1ff1th Kenneth Kelly John Bond and Lowell Akers Betty Carpenter also entered our class from the Great Western School As freshmen we pre sented the play The Moues Come to Town' under the d1rcct1on of Mrs Nhtchell The g1rls wear1ng fr1lly blouses and full sklrts had a wonderful t1me servlng at the Juntor Semor Banquet The fall of 1951 found us gay and merry Sophomores We lost three members Louella Neff Ella Mae G1-1ff1th and Lowell Akers We gamed two members MarJor1e Freeman and Mar1lyn Dav1s Our play H1 and Sts 1n New York was presented under the d1rect1on of Mrs Mltchell Some of the glrls agaxn served at the annual Junxor Semor Banquet The next year we were a class of Jolly Junxors We were very happy to galn ftve students Frances Chedester who later left us Don Host Ray Deafenbaugh Mary Hmckenbottom who later moved to New Athens and Mar1ruth Freeman Ffve other Delbert Blon The f1rst week of school we recelved our class rxngs Our play The Boarding Ho use Ranch was presented under the d1rect1on of Mrs Neuhart In the spr1ng everyone was bustly plannlng for the annual .Tumor Senlor Banquet an event whtch we had dreamed about for so long The g1rls ushered for the Baccalaureate and Commencement After three years of hard work and fun we entered Belmont Hlgh School on a brtght and sunny day ln September as d1gn1f1ed SCHXOTSQ Well at least semors' We lost two members Martha Motter who was marrled dur1ng summer vacat1on and later ln the year Everett Bumgardner We galned one Ida June Bell We regretted to see our happy days comlng to a close w1th graduatlon ln s1ght Howexer we were all so busy planmng our commencement orderlng lnvttatlons caps and gowns and hav1ng our graduatlon plctures taken that we forgot how sad we were and how we hated to leave the stalrway of dear old Belmont Hlgh School Several methods of ratstng money for our much talked about tr1p tn May were selltng sweat shmrts Chrlstmas candy servlng Senlor Lunch concesslons at the basketball games and present1ng our play The H1ll Bxlly Wedd1n In May we were honored by the Jumors at a beaut1fully planned banquet Now I brtng to a close th1s Hmstory of the Class of 1954 let us recall the trxendshlps formed thc pat1ence and understandlng of our teachers parents and frlends and may we al ways look to our hlgh school days our happlest years and ttmes wlth pleasant memor1es and hearts f1lled w1th p11de and grat1tude Now we must b1d Belmont I-hgh School good bye and assume respons1b1l1t1es of the world We earnestly hope that those who graduate 1n the future years w1ll appre mate and respect our dear old school and we are certaln If you treat the world fa1r and square that you wlll excell 1102?
