lumor Class History As Freshmen entermg h1gh school we started w1th twenty n1ne members of whlch twenty three were IH the e1ghth grade at Belmont We rece1ved f1ve members from Morrlstown Sh1rley Major Martha Su1l1van Donme R1emenschne1der Hxrry IDBHHIS and Evelyn Coff1eld and one from Bethesda Chfford bhreave We presented two plays HIS Ozark Cous1n and No Br1de for the Groom 1n wh1ch all members took part They both were under the d1rect1on of Mrs M1tchell Our class grew rap1dly as we became Sophomores we had a class of th1rty three members Then we ga1ned two from St Cla1rsv1lle R1chard VN1lhelm and Clenn Burghy One student came from Flush1ng J1m W1l5OH and one from B1rnesv1lle Rex Downey Vke lost Glenn Burghy Harry DCDHIS and Cl1fford Shreaves wh1ch left us only th1rty members Our play Acc1dental Hero was presented under the d1rect1on of Mrs lVl1tchell As Jun1ors we began our school year w1th twenty seven members We lost Joyce Secrest and Janet Van Fossen who were marrxed and Rex Downey who went back to Barnesv1lle Our very successful play Tons of Fun was presented under the d1rect1on of Mr Bauman Sophomore Class H zstory In 1950 thxrty one students n1net en boys and twelve glrls entered h1gh school as Freshmen Twenty of us were formerly exghth graders at Belmont The other eleven Lowell Akers John Bond Betty Carpenter Nancy Greenlee Ella Mae Cfr1ff1th attended the f1rst e1ght grades at other schools Our greatest event of the year was presentlng our play The Movles Come to Town under the d1rect1on of Mrs M1tchell Another event was the Junlor and Semor Banquet at wh1ch all of the g1rls served Th1rty one students entered as Sophomores 1n the fall of the year Those who d1d not come back were Benny St1dd and Ella Mae Gr1fi1th Three new members entered They were Mar-1or1e Freeman lVlar11yn Dav1s and Clarence Blake In the fall of the year we presented a play H1 and S15 1n New York Later we elected class olf1cers They were Pres1dent Paul Lucas VICE Pres1dent Bob Neff Secretary Laverna W1lson Treasurer Nancy Greenlee S Cha1r B111 Hawkenberry and John Bond On January 15 1952 we selected our class r1ngs Freshman Class Hlstory The Freshman class of 1951 58 IS composed of Z9 members To Jom our class of n1neteen came seven from Morr1stown one from Toledo one from Warwood and one from Freeport Our class Off1C91'S are Pres1dent Jay Loy V1ce PF8S1d8ht Ke1th Coff1eld Secretary Janet Secrest Treasurer Roger McCoy Soc Cha1r Sh1rley Blake and Reporter B111 Barbe S1x Freshmen part1c1pated 1n the Prmce of Peace contests Sh1rley Blake won fxrst place 1n the home contest and represented her church 1n the county contest at Barnesv1lle Betty Burkhart won f1rst place 1n Belmont School 1n the S011 Conserv:-1t1on essay contest and Sh1rley Blake won th1rd place Our class IS presentmg a play Peck s Bad Boy 16 , . . y , -D . , -1 - - vs an ' 91 - - : ' ' ' ' - . . 1 . .
