Band The Belmont I-hgh School Band IS composed of fzfty one members thxs year The Band started the year off wxth a Bang by gomg to the State Faxr m August havmg practxced for the occaslon all summer A few of the most xmportant oc casxons at whxch the band has performed thxs year are the County Faxr the Fxreman s Carmval the Klwams Parade the Semor Play Bmgo Party the Con cert 1n March Commencement and a stunt band composed of a number of band people played at the Homecoming Game on December 15 The majorettes and the1r varzous routmes and the formatxons wh1ch the band has learned thxs year have added greatly to the band s popularmty Th1s year the band w1l1 lose e1ght members through graduatxon They are Sam Burkhart Dean Knapp B111 Duvall Dortha Hart Wayne D Parker Nancy Hall Evelyn Cam and the Drum Majorette Frances Masters The band members w1sh to express themr thanks to the Band Mothers for the neva uhmte spats and plumes and also the curtams for the band room 1 hese thmgs were purchased by the Band Mothers by the1r hard work and cont1nued effort The Chxcken Supper the Athletlc Banquet and the Bingo were a few of the means through whlch they ralsed the money wlth whlch to purchase these thxngs The G1rls Sextette composed of Marlene Masters Marxlyn Oghbee Jean Secrest Freda Cam Margze Norrell and Frances Masters has been quxte popular th1s year The gmrls have sung at the Semor Play the Prmce of Peace Contest the Lloydsvxlle lnstxtute, the World Day of Prayer Servxces at the othe r t1me s The Gzrls Glee Club whzch IS composed of thzrty szx members thxs year gave themr bxg performance of the year at the Concert March 14 The Concert was glven by the Band Gzrls Glee Club and the Mxxed Chorus whxch has sxxty f ve members Another group whzch has attracted a lot of attentzon ns the tap dancmg chorus The group ms composed of fave members of the Sextette Dons Duvall and Betty C lham The group gaxe quxte a show at the Band 'Vhnstrel mn thexr whxte shorts and colored blouses Instrumental soloxsts th1s year who haxe performed on dxfferent or ca-.nuns are Paul Lucas Jlm Barrett Joyce Secrest Jean Secrcst Kenneth I- 1:-.her Dortha Hart and Wayne D Parker Outstandlng vocal SOIOISYS are Frances Master Manlyn Ogzlbee and Du k Roby The Muszc Department IS under the d1rect1on of Mrs Shepherd who has done a marvelous Job of furmshmg muslc for the plays and a number of other pro grams whzch have been glven durzng the year 31 . , .
