Hlstory We the Class of 1951 can now reallze what It 15 to be Senxors mn hlgh school Before we descend the stalrway of dear Old Belmont I-hgh let us pause for a mom ent to look over a few of the many memorles dear to the hearts of all As a Freshman Class of twenty slx students we entered hlgh school 1n 1947 Twenty three of us were formerly e1ghth graders of Belmont The other three Wxlma Johnson Clarence R1emenschne1der and Bob Orr1son completed grade school at Morrxstown After a few months Mary Lomse Sa.ffel1 qxut school leavlng a total of twenty fmve On Apnl 1 we presented our class play K1cked Out of College under the d1rect1on of Mrs Mztchell We also enjoyed a class party The greatest event of the year for the glrls was servxng at the Iumor Semor Banquet We wore wlute dresses and red aprons wxth szlver stars glltterxng ln our ha1r The fall of 48 found us gay young Sophomores Duane Underwood Jolned us from Barnesvxlle We presented the play The Sweetheart of U Baka P1 under the d1rect1on of Mrs Mxtchell December 31 we enterta1ned our xnvlted guests w1th a New Year s Eve Party We also had a square dance and cake walk The gxrls agam served at the annual .Tunlor Sen1or Banquet We wore pastel colored dresses When our summer vacat1on had ended we went back to school as Jolly .Tumors We were very sorry to see that we had lost three of our classmates Wzlma Johnson Sylv1a Huntsman and Kathleen Gregg Duvall We presented the play The W'1ld Oats Boy under the dmrectlon of M1ss Groves We also had more months we were sorry to lose Mary Holland who qult school At the begxnnmg of the second semester Betty Orrlson Joxned our class makmg a grand total of twenty three In March we had a Farewell Party for Frances Wzlson who moved to Flush1ng Then came the event we had all dreamed about our .Tumor Sen1or Banquet The theme was 1-lawau Wayne D Parker acted as Master of Ceremomes After three years of fun and hard work we entered B H S on a brxght September day as d1gn1f1ed'P well Semors anyway September 15 we were very sorry to lose another classmate Duane Underwood He IS now 1n the Army A1r Corps On October 19 we presented the play Dotty and Daffy under the dxrectlon of Mr Baurnan We were kept busy ordermg 1nv1tat1ons caps and gowns havxng graduatlon p1ctures taken and plannmg commencement We soon forgot how sad we would be as we descended the stalrway of dear old Belmont Hxgh We selected our motto Cmward Ever Backward Never the colors Blue and Whlte and the flower Whxte Carnatlon We found several ways of raxsmg money for the tmp we plan to take ln the sprmng Some of these methods were concessxons at basketball games sellmg Chrxstmas Cards etc In May we were honored by the JUHIOTS at a beautlfully planned banquet As we brlng to a close this hxstory of the Class of 51 let us strlve to re member the teachers, parents and frlends and may we always look to our hxgh school days as our happlest days with pleasant memories and a heart fxlled wlth prxde and gratltude 0 0 , , . . . . . .
